He's a PG though.... makes little sense if Posh there.
If you don’t think they could play together I strongly disagree, but let’s see if he enters portal.

totally agree they could.  Stef Smith could back up both spots, Wusu and Pinzon at the 2–3 and so-on.

If Alvarado played in the backcourt with Posh then I wouldn't want to be the opposition bringing the ball up the court. We would have the returning 2nd and 5th leading steal guys nationally. One can only dream.

Alvarado would be a dream get as we need a combo guard & big and that would be one of the two checked off better than I could have hoped

With no disrespect to Dunn, Alvarado is a much better version of him. Brings everything Dunn did well plus hes a great decision maker. CMA wants ball handlers, drivers, and defensive disrupters. That’s Alvarado to a T.

I have no information and no idea if this has any shot of happening but will say this right up front. Alvarado is an example of a clear upgrade. I lot of us from the area have loved him from his CTK days.

He has had an excellent career at GT and offensive statistics do not tell the story. He can really defend.

Alvarado as starting SG/ second PG would be phenomenal.  He can do it all and mix in Stef smith for plenty of minutes.  I don’t want to get too excited about something like that though at this juncture. Fun to speculate though, and as an upperclassmen wouldn’t step on any toes.

wait, is jose alvarado even transferring?
Again, just shared a rumor I have heard from several folks that he could enter portal. That does not mean he has or will.

If he does he's going to have top teams all over him.  He would be a huge land.  Him and Posh would be the best defensive back court in the nation.

If he does is the rumor that he comes to St. John's? If he did I am paying the balance on my season tickets right now.

Played off the ball a lot this past season. Not worried about that at all, and don't think he would be either.

If we were to get Alvarado I won’t really care much about a big man. You have the big East defensive player of the year and the ACC defensive player of the year I doubt you will be able to throw the ball in the post.

The two best teams in college basketball, Gonzaga (Jalen Suggs and Andrew Nembhard) and Baylor (Davion Mitchell and Jared Butler), plays two point guards.

Although, Posh and Alvarado are smaller than those two-point guard backcourts, they both play solid defense and are capable of scoring (Alvarado's shot has definitely improved in his four years at Georgia Tech).

You take Alvarado, if he becomes available, and don't think twice about it.

Great point, and also, Louisville won a national championship a few years ago with two 6'0 PGs in their starting lineup.... Russ Smith and Peyton Siva.  Everyone focuses on big men, but more times than not good guards win you national championships in college basketball, that's what the focus should be on.

When I think of Alvarado, I think back to when Ponds scored 37 against him and Georgia Tech in a close win in Dec 2018.
