I just need to clear my head from all the exit reactions and express my hope that an aggressive, overachieving guard like Jose Alvarado opts for portal and considers playing his last year at home. To add to my fantasy island existence, he and Posh would be tremendous warriors together & with Julian get us to the Dance. Not suggesting anything, simply in a “what if” mood.
You guys know anything about this kid?  He just entered the portal.

Just reached out to JPM114 who should know him, will post something when I hear

Awfully small but talented and tenacious backcourt. Alvarado far more athletic then he looks. I remember standing next to him during practice at CTK when he was either a freshman or sophomore. He was about my height(5'10"). He then walked over to the basket, and from a standing position easily dunked the ball. I was blown away. Would take him in a heartbeat, but don't see it happening. OTOH lots of stuff has gone on that I didn't see happening, so there ya go.

Alvarado if it ever were a chance would present a definite upgrade. Maybe my favorite non sju player to watch this year and fit perfectly for pressure system.

Let the torture begin as he narrows to 10 shortly :)

From Aaron’s dad on Twitter
”St. John's University is a "sleeping giant" in college basketball.  With the moves being made this off season, it wouldn't surprise me if they stay in the Top 25 AP polls during 2021-'22 season.

#SJUSleepingGiant“

 Hopefully he knows some things!
Don’t think that was tweet from his dad whose name is Billy Wheeler (played for Manahattan). The tweet is from Ken Wheeler whose Twitter background shows him to be a Yale grad and 2x BB captain.

And he is Billy Wheeler’s brother (twins IIRC) and Aaron’s uncle.

JPM114 on Jaheem Cornwall Gardner Webb transfer;

“He went to Putnam Science for a post grad year but played at Francis Lewis prior to that. 3-point numbers are very good which jibes with the kid I knew in HS. His recruitment seems repetitive with Stef Smith, but Jaheem may be able to play a little point in addition to SG.”

And everyone wonders why these kids are transferring.

Thanks for info.  Seems like one we should keep an eye on.

Gurley would be great.  Could be a starting wing next to Champs.  Allows us to bring Pinzon along slowly at SG/SF.  Would work nice rotation with Wheeler as well.

Impatiently waiting for the avatar./media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

Let’s see if there are any local portal surprises this week

Don’t tease like that Paultz.  We have any shot at getting Alvarado here?

I’m going to see if portal rumor pans out, then go from there.
