Are we trying to lead the league in undersized 2Gs?

Hope I’m misreading, but this would seem to suggest that there is some uncertainty about Williams’ future.
I am going to do something shocking and agree with you. I'm wondering if Smith comes here if he's not starting, and I'm wondering how Williams felt about us reaching out to portal guards. Hopefully all works out because I like Williams. I want more aggression out of him, but I like him.

Or the staff might have picked up some vibes so they are covering themselves?

Let's say Timmy Allen of Utah wants to transfer to SJU. But let's say Stanley may ask out of his NLI if that happens.

Do you do it?  Does that question need to be asked?

Williams has given this program his heart and soul -- not to mention playing with a back back -- to this team, and the last thing I want to see is his moving on because we're bringing in an unhappy one-year transfer from from another team specifically to take his minutes. I'd be super-pissed if that were the case.

They aren’t “his” minutes.  Everybody earns their minutes.  The wining programs ALL recruit over their talent, especially in this day and age.  You have to because players are leaving at a whim as well.  We won’t be successful if we are saving minutes for kids and aren’t trying to grab better talent all the time. Simply put, we have to grab the best possible talent we can.

Williams is a good kid. But this is a results business. If SJU can get a Noah Locke or Richmond you get 'em. Worry about everything else later. Would that mean Williams probably transfers? Yes. Love the kid but it is about getting better now.

Not sure if it’s what you were implying but Locke is not a better player than Williams.

I think he is. But to be fair he may not be as big an upgrade as I implied  said:

Maj mins will be allowed for smith if he shoots as well as advertised

Smith shot 40% from the field this past season, and at a much lower level. Only 3 players on our team shot less then 40% from the field. Not sure what that means for him next season,
but I would temper expectations.

I have no doubt Williams "earned" his minutes. This is college ball, not the NBA, and loyalty should be rewarded if it's warranted -- and in his case it is. I certainly have no issue with bringing in transfers who can help the program, but let them earn their minutes before taking PT from guys like Williams.

I like Williams and hope he stays and plays a big role.

Here's the rub with the ever-looser transfer rules. Yeah, players were getting screwed for years and change was necessary. But now players can pick their spots -- and so can coaches/programs.

I expect we'll see a lot more "one-year teams" as players look for the right spot with the right program with a chance to win and increase their profile.

Look at their per 40 #s and Greg beats him in nearly everything. Besides, a 6’3 guard with over 2500 minutes only has 60 assists in his career? It’s hard not to stumble across more than that. Agree to disagree. Kadary is a different story.

After we landed Stef, I didn’t think he was ty s best fit. Maybe somebody with more than 1 year eligibility and who can give us something different than Stef.

I think you guys are jumping the gun. Staff is just doing their due diligence and trying to put together the best roster possible, which everyone should be happy about.

They have 3 open scholarships right now.  And on top of that they have Julian testing the waters, which even though it's likely he returns it's not 100% certain, I've seen kids say they intend to return and then people get in their ear and they stay in the draft or transfer, it happened last year with LJ transferring and it happened to CMA at Arkansas with Michael Qualls staying in draft.  Then you have Posh who just had surgery, you have Williams who has battled back issues for the past 2 seasons and missed significant time, you never know when he may reaggravate that. The staff has to keep all that in mind, and recruit accordingly.  It would be negligence on their part for them not trying to get the best possible players they can and be prepared for unexpected departures.

The year before Smith shot 46/43/75.  Let's hope STJ is getting that guy.  He won't be one of the top 2 players on the team so he won't garner as much attention.  However the quality of the 3rd and 4th defenders is higher caliber.  So many variables.

Let's hope. Don't get me wrong, on the surface I like the pick up a lot. Seems like a great kid and I think he will be a solid player for us.  Now we need to use the remaining ships to upgrade the talent from last season, if we hope to make the big dance next year.

CMA recruited him to Arkansas & a junk yard dog type

Seemed to have been a fan favorite from all the twitter responses.

"In three years in Fayetteville, Sills's specialty was driving hard to the basket. He was named preseason second team all-SEC prior to the 2020-21 season, but his playing time diminished following an injury. He finished the season averaging 7.5 points and 2.5 rebounds this season, starting 15 games. He averaged 10.6 points, starting 24 games last season. He was one of three Razorbacks to play all 66 Arkansas games in the two previous seasons."

Sounds like a cma-type and of course was recruited by him.  Don’t know if his role would increase here though.
