SJU Transfer Targets/Possibilities

Would LOVE to have Richmond here.  GWill and Stef are seniors.  Richmond could step in right away at one of the SG/wing spots and we often have more than one primary ball handler ala Posh/Dunn.  No idea where he’s thinking about going but certainly should make a run at him and kick the tires.
Seton Hall recruited him hard last time;

And that’s your combo guard too. Dream case. Seton hall would be a nightmare.

I believe Kadary’s final 4 schools prior to getting an offer from Cuse were sju, UConn, seton hall and Oregon.  Don’t know if that means anything now but never know.  Rumors out there are Kadary to UK or Florida.

Richmond definitely works for me, but I don't think it works for Williams, so careful what you wish for if you are a huge GWII fan.

Keep an eye on Kentucky for Kadary RIchmond believe it or not.

Cal will be pulling out all stops after not making the Tourny this year.  UK basketball fans are not known for their patience and understanding, and that goes back to Joe B. Hall.

Of course that could be true and I want GWill here basically over any other reasonable options. But look at gonzaga and Baylor, obviously the cream of the crop but they play multiple guards who all dribble, pass, and shoot. Kadary can play 1-3. Posh played alongside another pg this past year. Greg and Wusu both cover enough ground and do enough things offensively to play 1-3. I’m sure it would take some convincing but a 1-3 of Posh, Greg, Kadary with Wusu able to slide in for any one of them would put our backcourt in clooooose to an elite category.

Would not mind seeing a starting 5 of Alexander, Williams, Richmond, Champagnie, and a Big Man. With the rest coming off the bench, I believe that we would have a Big East Championship team and make a nice run in the NCAA tourney.

DeMeo followed and vice versa, Juco connection in Fl once

Old Dominion leading scorer Malik Curry has entered the NCAA’s transfer portal, a school spokesman confirmed Tuesday.Curry, a 6-foot-1 senior guard, averaged 15.7 points per game this season, good for 10th in Conference USA. He led the team and was eighth in the league with 3.6 assists per game

Is it accurate to say we’re targeting grad transfers to keep the 22 scholarships open?? Or am I missing something.

Also Kansas just landed another guard. Cuffe junior come on home!!!!

This is a huge if, but if Richmond wanted to come home, and Williams isn't bothered by the presence of Richmond and Smith, I think a team with Posh, Richmond, Williams, Smith, Wusu, Pinzon, and a hopefully returning Champagnie is going really far. Honestly, at that point I shoot for the stars. Contact every top available big man to see if we can get in there.

Shit, if we had all those guys I'd reach out to Walker Kessler or Chet Holmgren./media/kunena/emoticons/grin.png

Steep competition obviously;

Florida transfer Noah Locke tells ESPN he's heard from UNC, Kansas, Louisville, Providence, UConn, Tennessee, Arkansas, Georgia, Auburn, Ole Miss, Miss State, UCLA, Clemson, Oregon, Virginia, NC State, St. John's, Maryland, Illinois, Indiana, Marquette, OK State, Alabama & more.

Are we trying to lead the league in undersized 2Gs?

Hope I’m misreading, but this would seem to suggest that there is some uncertainty about Williams’ future.
I am going to do something shocking and agree with you. I'm wondering if Smith comes here if he's not starting, and I'm wondering how Williams felt about us reaching out to portal guards. Hopefully all works out because I like Williams. I want more aggression out of him, but I like him.

We want more aggression out of him but he’s also had a bunch of back issues that have hampered him. I don’t think anybody can be sure he will be healthy enough to make a full season as a senior which is why I think we are getting some insurance. As talented as he is, I can’t see a ton of other schools trusting him with the key as a starter also because off chronic back problems.  It has to be a concern at minimum.  We have only one season left with him and can’t put all our eggs in that basket.  I also don’t see Cma wanting to play him at all at the oh spot and wants more guys that can play that position if needed.

Williams is a good kid. But this is a results business. If SJU can get a Noah Locke or Richmond you get 'em. Worry about everything else later. Would that mean Williams probably transfers? Yes. Love the kid but it is about getting better now.

Williams has given this program his heart and soul -- not to mention playing with a back back -- to this team, and the last thing I want to see is his moving on because we're bringing in an unhappy one-year transfer from from another team specifically to take his minutes. I'd be super-pissed if that were the case.
