SJU Transfer Targets/Possibilities

We need a proven big not a project. He doesn't need to be a stud, just a solid 20-25 MPG player who has already proven himself at a mid to high major. I have no problem with an AI and/or Nwiye coming off the bench. I just don't want to go in to next season with a freshman and some unproven players manning the low post.
The staff isn't just going to throw anyone out there.  They do their diligence on recruiting.  Just like some was unsure of Moore last off-season with him being so skinny.   Despite his off the court issues, staff recruited well with him, he was very productive at that 5 spot, would have averaged double figures in scoring if wasn't for him only playing 3 minutes in his last game and not getting any points then, that hurt his average.

One thing I'm encouraged by is they are holding on to Nyiwe, I felt like if they didn't think he would be productive, after seeing him at practice everyday for the past  2 1/2 months, they would have encouraged him to move on.  You can't forget Nyiwe was a top 30 JUCO prospect and was signed to Chris Beard, who's arguably one of the best recruiters in the country and Greg Marshall wanted him as well.  Stanley should also help, he's like a taller more athletic Earlington with his size, it wouldn't surprise me if he's able to contribute and have a freshman season similar to what Wusu had, he's got a great motor.

Furman transfer Noah Gurley tells @Stockrisers he’s heard from Auburn, Xavier, Marquette, Maryland, Indiana, Tulsa, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, Marshall, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Georgia, and St. John’s, since entering the portal last night.

Averaged 15.8 points and 5.8 boards per.
@jakeweingarten

Xavier target too

First glance looks like a really good player. Nice size and a 36% 3pt shooter over last two seasons going 62/171.

20 & 8 at Cincy
15 & 3 at Bama
14 & 7 at Winthrop.

Not a center but a different front court piece than what we have currently after Champ.

Noticed a mutual follow of Maxwell Evans, Guard from Vandy between TJ and him.
Pretty good looking little player - numbers actually steadily climbed throughout year.  Have to wonder whether this means staff is expecting more defections or just being prepared.

Always protect yourself with possible defections. Hopefully this week current roster guys’ status will be clearer

Don't see anymore deflections besides maybe a small point guard or a 6'6 tweaner that shoots three point shots and helped us beat Georgetown.

On the latter, that rumor has been out there for weeks, we’ll see. Hopefully it can be avoided

I mentioned last year that a certain school from the big 10 was sniffing around this player last year. Hopefully he stays and graduates. His improvement has been nice to see

I wish Jonathan "Crime Dog" McGriff the best of luck.  He played hard in limited minutes and seemed like a good teammate.

The good news of course is that this provides another opportunity to upgrade the roster, though with all of the competition certainly nothing is guaranteed.

Good luck to Mggriff. Hopefully he finds a place where he can have his own team to run.

Now let’s get this team better and stronger. Still tons of prospects including jucos.  Hope to add a young player maybe as well.

Best of luck with the Crime Dog.  Without ever knowing the inner-workings, seems the writing was on the wall for this one as well.  Gives us another open scholarship to bring in a player that might be a better fit or provide more production.

I love Earlington, as a fan.  I love how he's progressed.  I think he'd be foolish to go elsewhere -- he has developed well under CMA and staff and has a definite significant role on this team.  I also think CMA does an excellent job of putting him in positions where he can succeed, and hope that resonates with him, because he is the type of player IMO who needs to be put in the right spots to play at optimal value.

I wish him the best.  I guess he had the talk with Papa Anderson.  I hope he finds a program where he can show and grow his skills.
