Again, as an outlier, I don't know how anyone can claim Greg has "earned" starter minutes. 2 underwhelming seasons and one uneven and inconsistent incomplete. Who the starters are (or should be) all depends on who exactly is here.
Posh and Champy, yes. Have others earned more time? GW III played 24.8 minutes, Duke, 16.9.Duke of Earlington post=427830 said:You dont think any of those 4 have earned that?Knight post=427826 said:Earn the PT.Duke of Earlington post=427824 said:We cant start losing good big east plays like earlington. Time for Coach Mike to start promising playing time and starting spots to these kids.
Next season:
Starters:
1- posh
2- gwill
3- Champy
4- Earlington
5- ?
30 minutes a game guaranteed. Lets go Coach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Boo, I agree with you 100%. If NCAA passes this rule and doesn't make any adjustments and just allows a mercenary style off-season every year, I may be done with college basketball. Like you, I enjoy watching the players develop and watching different coaches run different systems and build their teams. If we're talking every team rebuilding after every year, it's going to turn into nothing more than high level pick-up games and I think I'll pass on that and just stick to NBA.Boo Harvey post=427831 said:This is ruining college basketball. Wahab leaving GTown? No continuity at all. Who wants to watch a bunch of mercenaries play for one year.
It’s certainly not unique to us, but it seems that we’re losing our whole team. Part of the joy of being a fan is to watch kids develop. I remember when we signed Earlington, some knowledgeable posters said he likely won’t produce much right away but could turn into a good four year player.
There is no such thing as a four year player any more! For me, kids like Earlington are what makes college basketball great. Watching them develop and contribute. This one if true would really hurt. Champagnie will enter the portal — may or may not come back. We are essentially building a new team.
I agree this sort of stuff is ruining or can ruin the game. But you lost me on definitively stating Champagnie entering the portal. Where is that coming from?Boo Harvey post=427831 said:This is ruining college basketball. Wahab leaving GTown? No continuity at all. Who wants to watch a bunch of mercenaries play for one year.

I understand from the kids' perspective, but it's not great for the kids either if the whole sport implodes. They need to find a reasonable middle ground. My proposal would be to go back to the old system of having to apply for waiver, with the added rule that if your head coach is leaving you get the waiver automatically.Enright post=427843 said:Since the immediate eligibility rule is not final the NCAA could admit it is a terrible mistake and players who transfer will have to sit out a year. If they did that eighty per cent of the transferrees will ask their coaches to take them back and order will be restored.
Because the NCAA will never say they made a mistake the rule will probably stand for next season making it a mess but order will return next year. If the rule becomes permanent college basketball is ruined.

It's essentially a mix of craigslist and linkedin where disenfranchised kids can offer their semiprofessional services to all the HR departments in the country any place any time.Making Plays post=427746 said:Nope transfer portal is like the 7-Eleven, open 24/7. You see Caraher entered the portal in the middle of the season. The portal is going to be something coaches literally watch every day.Knight post=427739 said:Is there an end date to entering the transfer portal?

Agreed, he'd be more attractive as a second big man addition on top of one more established.Paultzman post=427919 said:SJU obviously still in the Aidan hunt, but it would be interesting to know who the competition is. Maybe “Mack doghouse” works to SJU advantage? If it does, next question is what does he bring to the table? Nice size for sure, but legit to wonder.
All I want is a legit big man to keep opposing offenses honest, who doesn't get pushed around, who can defend inside and who can muscle up a layup or putback every now and again.Paultzman post=427919 said:SJU obviously still in the Aidan hunt, but it would be interesting to know who the competition is.
