SJU now 20th in AP Poll

Right now we're ranked #20

#19 San Diego State lost this week
#18 Miami lost this week
#17 Maryland playing at Oklahoma State (potential Loss)
#16 Washington playing Oklahoma (potential Loss)
#15 Oklahoma playing Washington (potential Loss)
#14 Utah playing at UNLV (potential Loss)
#12 Ohio State playing at UNC (potential Loss)

That's pretty much how it lines up right now

Yeah, I know the rankings don't change until Monday.
My point is that with us winning last night, and #s18 and 19 losing already, that #18 is a lock right now. #s 15 and 16 play each other tonight, so there's a good chance that we'll move ahead of the loser. so that's #17.
#12 lost @ #24 UNC, so don't know if we'll move ahead of them.

Watching teams ahead of sju makes it more interesting.

Oklahoma and ohio st lost, #16?

Oh and ummm Utah has a 1pnt halftime lead.

Wouldn't be shocked to see Notre Dame and UNC go past us. We will go past San Diego State, Miami and possibly Oklahoma. Expecting our ranking to be 19 or 20 right now.

Good point those two teams have a chance of passing us. I think there's at least 3 teams we should pass. Ohio State was #12 but looking at their resume they've beaten nobody.

As of now I'll guess #17 or #18.

I expect to be # 18 tomorrow afternoon. Unc may leap us. Their loss to Kentucky doesn't look as bad now and, well, they are U N C

I anticipate that ohio state is still ranked better than sju. That syracuse win keeps getting less meaningful

Maryland are underdogs today so we'd pass them if they lose.

Edit: Syracuse's RPI is still top 50. Top 50 wins on the road are huge.

I'm not understanding why anyone would think ND would pass us. They're 111 in the RPI and beat a mediocre Purdue team this week. UNC doesn't deserve to pass us, but they also didn't deserve to be ranked this past week. Given the popularity contest that the rankings are, I fully expect the writers to put them ahead of us.

Why would ND pass us?
They beat Purdue, we beat SMC. Is Purdue better then SMC? I'd say if anything, they're equal.
Yeah, UNC beat #12 OSU this week. Now at the whole year.
They lost to an unranked Iowa team, and Butler who will be unranked in the coming week. Our only loss came to the #8 team in the country.
I guess UNC will leap us though. Go OK ST.

I'm not saying they should, but we're only 3 votes ahead of them and voters may see their win as more impressive. All it takes is one or two voters.

Again, I don't think they should pass us but it really wouldn't be surprising.

It does become a popularity contest and the ACC tears are treated extra nice

UNC beats us bad in guys successfully passing social media in the 21st century 101

With all due respect, these lofty rankings seem a bit giddy and need to be taken with more than a pinch of salt... First four BE games will be a good indicator: @Hall, Butler, Nova, @Friars.

Parrish is just one guy and he's kinda agenda-driven. Good for talking points but way off from Lunardi which is more in-line with NCAA rankings.

I will just repeat myself from last week. If you can guarantee SJU will be ranked #20 on selection Sunday, I will take it and run.

Im more worried about winning tonight than the specific number of our ranking. Dec rankings are overrated. That said, Im glad were top 20. But a high ranking and a loss tonight would be a bummer.

Going tonight. I would love to go into the New Year with three more wins.
