SJU now 20th in AP Poll

ND has only 19pnts more then us, and they play N Illinois this week.
If we win both of our games then we should leap them.

Possibly could leap MD also, they only play Oakland.

Shame on you, Joey Johnston of the Tampa Tribune!

Dick Vitale having a vote is pure comedy.

I remember one poll when he put Duke 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5!

He usually says good things about our program. I don't mind the guy.

I agree he talks very highly of STJ history but not so highly of where they are now. Also I just can't listen to his shtick anymore. If I must watch a game he's doing I mute it, especially if he's sitting next to Mike Patrick. Patrick is awful on his own but when he's next to Vitale forget about it.

Maybe some hot shooting from Max Hooper will put a notch in the Terps loss column. ;)

But meanwhile he didnt have us ranked the past few weeks.

I'm not so sure where I would put us if I had a vote, and I am a diehard fan. I honestly think we are a little overrated right now. I'm not saying I'm not happy and that I'm not enjoying this, but I do think we are a little too high.

The first 4 conference games will tell me if we are truly a top 20 team.

Maybe I'm way off and it is all the years of losing that has done this to me?

The team plays Top 25 defense for sure; The offense is on-and-off intra game; probably like most teams in the NCAAs.

I doubt very few teams (basically only the Top 5 to 8 teams) are really good on both ends of the court for most of the time.

Everyone else is trying to figure it out, just like us.

Our lack of an experienced/deep bench may be our achiles heel this year. We'll see.

When you watch a first half like we had against St. Mary's, I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks this great start can all turn south. The team must stick to the game plan: Win with pressure defense and ball movement. Attack the basket and get to the line. Wear teams down with our athleticism. Extend the D to cover the shooters. Above all else, avoid an outside shooting contest. Don't let less athletic teams get us in a half court game. We don't have the horses to blow many people out, especially now with the early schedule behind us. Most games will be decided in the last 5 minutes. We have to be tough in the end game. Maybe we are due after what happened last season.

As much as I like being # 17, it is hard to put too much stock into early (pre-conference play) rankings. A great example: TCU @ #25. Last year they went 0-18 in the Big 12 (yes, ZERO wins, eighteen losses).

So far this year the Frogs on their march to 12-0 have walloped the Prairie View Panthers, the Radford Highlanders, the Bradley Braves, and the Furman Paladins. I guess Little Sisters of the Poor could not be scheduled... TCU will do well to go 6-12 in the Big 12.

#9 Texas goes down in OT at home vs. Stanford. We have a good chance of passing them and Kansas if we win Sunday.

Jump from #17 Into the Top 10?

A win over Tulane won't do that.

No. They'll drop 4-5 spots and we'll gain 4-5. Thus, we'd both be around 13.

Kansas and Texas will drop, we don't have to crack the top 10 to pass them. Wich St losing to Hawaii maybe we pass 3 teams

Wichita wins by a point in OT.
