Seton Hall

Hard to believe we are tied for 3rd isn't it? Really makes you think now, if we had like 4 very winnable games back we would be 17-3 (6-2) right now likely with a #20 next to our name. Still though, for a very young team 5-3 in the hardest conference in America is a badge of honor. If I were Lavin, I would pound this into their heads: we are now 5-3...many expect us to drop off...they look at us in 3rd place and say it's a fluke. They expect us to lose to L'Ville, Cuse, Marquette, G'Town, etc. but too bad for them games are not played on paper. WE control our own destiny from here on out. The tourney spot is there with our name on it...how bad do we want it? Let's turn the Big East on its head and have another late run like 2011 shocking everyone.

I know Harrison was "off" for a few games recently but he had a super day at the office against the Hall: 40 mins, 6-13 FG, including 3-8 on three's, 9-10 from the charity stripe (big FTs made when game was on the line), 7 rebounds, 3 assists and a blocked shot. That, my friends, is an excellent all round game for our go-to guy.

Harrison is a very good player on a team that is just learning to win. I felt bad for the kid when some of our fans came down hard o him a few games ago. If everyone of our talented players, and we have quite few, would play with the same intensity that DLO does we would have a better record and would be considered a tournament team.
Our coach is back after being absent for a year and I am sure his methodology is starting to sink in.
Good days and wins are ahead of this young team.

Solid win today. Proud of the team developing.

It sure seems that when we're not running CAPPY and we start our offense earlier, good things happen.

Looks like they're running some sort of Double High with Jakarr and Obekpa up top setting screens for the ball handler.

Lavin has certainly ramped up his coaching fom earlier in the year. At the beginning of the year, he wasn't demonstrative at all in the huddle. During the win streak, I've noticed him calling guys out and getting in their face holding them accountable. Finally saw him draw up a play during a timeout too :)

The team is definitely seeing the results. Amazing progress from how disjointed we looked earlier this year.

Now let's take care of business at Carnesseca against DePaul. No need to look ahead. Just knock teams off one by one.

Send me courtside seats to the next SJ game at MSG or Joe3 gets it.

We've learned how to win. That's huge. Next step is to learn how to bury teams when up big earlier in the game.

Agree with everything you have said and most importantly don't look ahead of any particular team as we are just not that good. However, if we play good D and 3 or more players can score in double digits we can be right in the thick of most games.
Whether it is Lavin's coaching, DlO's improved play , more minutes for Branch, less minutes for Phil, continued strong play by JS, improved play by Sir Dom, what counts is we won.
Does anyone know the announced attendance?

ESPN says 7641.

Good win and always something to learn from in tight games. Could have been easy if Sampson and Green did not miss some of those easy jumpers that led to the Hall comeback.

Another lead of atleast 13pnts, 16pnt lead vs. SHU today. Need these big leads until they learn how to close out games then it won`t matter.
Now l.ets sweep DePaul.

What was good about the game: St. John’s wins, with various details & highlights to be discussed at length over the course of the rest of the day on this board.

What was bad about the game: I took my nephew and he had a good time. I return him home to his mommy. She takes one look at him, then glances at me and says in a matter fact manner: “He has pink eye. Don’t you know what pink-eye looks like?” I think to myself: “Uh, no… I don’t know what pink eye looks like. That wasn’t in the ‘uncle training-manual’”. Sheesh…

What was really bad about the game: I almost certain to have pink-eye now… Kid was crawling all over me. :yell:

I just did some quick math and analysis. If we won all of our games we'd be 20-0 right now - unbelievable. We also just arrived at the 20 games mark, which if I counted correctly, means we played 20 games.

What worries me is that in crunch time this team stands around and waits for Dangelo to make a play. And he knows it. Forcing shots that make you cringe until they go in is not a strategy for long term success.

Dangelo has got to start showing some faith in his teammates when he's double teamed coming off a pick.
It's a slap in the face to Jakarr every time Dangelo chucks up a prayer rather than passing back to his wide open teammate,

The prayers went in today. And I love that Dangelo is on our team. But it's basketball 101... If they trap you off a pick pass it back to the pick-man.

One thing about the attendance is that even in section 109, I usually have most of the row to myself. Saw bunches of people with internet tickets sitting below me, and next to me - very f-ing annoying to have someone buy 1/2 priced tickets and get better seats than a RW 30 plus 30 season ticket holder.

My guess is about 10-11K in attendance, mostly st johns, a nice sign. Myabe 1500 seton hall fans.

The problem is that Lavin had Branch out and Phil in.
The offense stalls when Phil is at PG and someone (usually D'Angelo) is forced to do something.

I was hoping that he would it Phil bu he didn't.

Sounds like the Knicks and Melo. Like it or not teams are going to their go to guy at crunch time. I'd rather move the ball and find an open shot but more often then not teams dont do that.
