Sir Dom has to be less aggressive when he is in foul trouble, need him in the game. Know it's got to be difficult, especially since he is a non stop hustler.
What worries me is that in crunch time this team stands around and waits for Dangelo to make a play. And he knows it. Forcing shots that make you cringe until they go in is not a strategy for long term success.
Dangelo has got to start showing some faith in his teammates when he's double teamed coming off a pick.
It's a slap in the face to Jakarr every time Dangelo chucks up a prayer rather than passing back to his wide open teammate,
The prayers went in today. And I love that Dangelo is on our team. But it's basketball 101... If they trap you off a pick pass it back to the pick-man.
D'angelo is not even the biggest gunner on the team.
Who is?
Jakarr
Harrison is shooting .429 from the field. Sampson is shooting .453, both including today.
As a freshmen, Harrison shot .375 from the field. Granted a forward should have a higher shooting percentage, but I don't see Sampson hoisting as many ill advised shots from never never land as harrison.
All in all, EXCEPT for the stretch where we gave up the big lead, Harrison played a much more under control game. I think in the period that we lost the big lead, he forced the issue time after time. Without that stretch I'd have given him an A+ for the afternoon, but the period where he went a little out of control dragged his overall game to a High B or low B+. Nice game overall but Harrison played exceptionally well except for the bad stretch.
There is no question that D'angelo likes to shoot. Jakarr just likes to a little more.
How many were bad shots. I recall one that was a borderline 3 but it was late in the clock so no issue there. The other was the first shot out of the half he rushed it. Its not like they are train wrecks. Couple went in and out there in the 2nd half. I have no problem if him and Dee are the ones who finish with most attempts. They are our best and should.
Im right with you moose, I can count on one hand the number of shots I didnt like from Dee this year. Jakarr needs to learn how to run the break better, give it up and youll get it back, dont just pull up every time.

I think that the ref was wrong on the last foul
Was anyone surprised not to see Bourgault in against their zone? Hope Lavin hasn't given up on him.

Jakarr doesn't run the break. Guards run the break, forwards rebound and then fill the lanes.
Would have liked to see Jakarr down low more in the second half; the Hall took away his shot around the foul line. It probably wouldn't have hurt to move Obekpa to the foul line and have Sampson move around down low. Going to have to try this against the Cuse, similar to what Nova did against them yesterday.

Good win today. We need to go 7-3 in our last ten to solidfy a spot on the NCAA Tourney. Any win total under 7 in the last ten and we need to win an extra game in the Big East Tournament. 7-3 in the last ten gets us in or 6-4 with 1 win in the BE Tourney or 5-5 with 2 wins in the BE Tourney. Anyone of these scenarios works. They have to get to 20 wins somehow.

Don't want Obekpa away from the basket. Teams sag off him and he thinks he should soot. He should never take a jump shot. Rebounds put backs, block shots, that is his job until his skill set improves over the next couple of years.

The best foul was when he was laying/sitting on the ground and the Hall player ran/fell into him and he was called for the foul. I know a foul had to be called as it looked like bumper cars but he was on the ground. Tough to commit a foul on your ass.
Was anyone surprised not to see Bourgault in against their zone? Hope Lavin hasn't given up on him.
That was a welcome surprise to me. We have a strong rotation of seven guys. Once we go deeper the talent difference is very noticeable. I'd rather see Balamou or Jones taking those minutes if we need to go deeper.

Just back from game so have missed all the posts and sorry if I'm rehashing old stuff.
Had seats close to the floor - fortunate - and what an enjoyable game - the "W" making all the difference. Of course a dark cloud would have hovered had we departed with an "L". Why does a grown man suffer so much when his team loses??? It's a mere game etc.
Sat with three old Brooklyn friends, long-time SJU fans, two of whom graduated from the Queens campus. We had not attended a game together in a while. The older a person gets the more precious such moments become.
Behind us was another SJU alum but he was seated next to his grandson who attends Seton Hall, hence the "old man" rooted for Seton Hall. The grandson explained early in the game Seton Hall tends to take a lead then lose it. He and a separate group of Seton Hall fans expressed their displeasure with their Coach.
We agreed coaching at Seton Hall was a much bigger challenge etc. than at SJU if a school want to become NCAA competitive.
And now that I think about it, one of my Brooklyn friends just a had a daughter graduate from Villanova so he is a Nova fan. He'll root for SJU only if they are not playing his daughter's college. This to me is all understandable. Blood ties override certain things.
Sat between Malik Boothe and Tarik Turner. The latter had just TV announced the high school SNY games. We asked him about - my mind is blanking out, the remaining top talent (???) from Queens that is deciding between us, Cincy etc. - Tarik said he did not know what the ultimate decision would be. We figured he would have a feel. He was neutral about it for whatever that means.
How can I watch the game on TV? If anyone knows?? I'd like to see it with all the narration and replays etc.
Thanks and all the best.
