Rysheed Jordan

Hopefully we get the most out of Jordan this year. I respect his talent and his importance to SJU success. That said, I think he is a kid with inflated sense of self & is very high maintenance. Hopefully this season is equally beneficial to SJU & Jordan.

Very true. He came from Philly where everyone and their mother was telling him he was a basketball god. It is cool that the entire city got behind him, but he needs to take it down a notch and focus on playing hard and smart.

Lets not bash the kid for leaving the program before he actually uhhh leaves the program.

Makes no sense to leave now. Jordan will leave at end of season to play for pay, but will that really shock anyone? For now, let's hope he has a good season.

No one told him he was a god. They told him he was (black) Jesus. ;)

I agree but I felt the same way about CO and Harrison and now they are two of my favorite players in any sports. I think Jordan will be gone after this year but I want him to be wearing a SJU uniform in March (or April).

Will be interesting to see if he starts against Fordham. Whether he deserves it or not, sitting on the bench while a clearly inferior Jamal Branch starts ahead of him must be a humiliation for a kid like Jordan.

That national geographic episode showing animals that eat their own young.

That's SJU fans :)

Don't they all have inflated values of self importance coming in as to 100 guys? Even if they come from big cities like Rysheed they are still probably they best player they know growing up. You just hope that builds confidence and leadership skills. It's the high maintenance that's a bit of a personality or character flaw that makes some guys less coachable/manageable than others.

Rysheed has a lot of talent. He just needs to take seriously what the staff is undoubtedly telling him about the need to play smart and under control to grow as a player. He can still make great plays with his athletic abilities but he can't dominate on that only. Dominant players play smart. Rysheed needs to stop driving the ball too deep where he has nowhere to go with it, to understand the importance of getting the whole team involved, and he needs to always know the game situation and to act accordingly. If he learns all of this he will be much more effective in the College game and he will probably play in the NBA. If he doesn't, he won't. It up to him at this point.

Uh, if he leaves it hurts us and has potential to end our season with a Branch injury. It's a huge deal, period. This is PG, arguably the most important position. You're downplaying this. Lavin and the team need to talk him out of it if true.

He's had some spectacular passes but he hasn't played much true PG. I personally think this is nothing. Most of us thought that he was gone after this season regardless. So enjoy the season and hopefully Jordan continues to develop to where he is actually an NBA caliber player.

Fair point but he's always a threat to score so I think he brings a lot to the team. He just needs to not force as much. Regardless, I much rather have Sheed or Branch at PG than PG4 again.

We are dealing with last year's runner up BE ROTY. He'll bounce back, and even if he doesn't I still want him on the team.

He's all potential right now. If he's smart he checks his ego (and vanity) and works hard instead of listening to sycophants and hangers-on. If he'd have worked as hard as Obekpa in the off-season we wouldn't be having this discussion because he'd be on the right track instead of people making excuses for him or him making them for himself. Like them or not, guys like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are extremely hard working men. They are extremely competitive but work relentlessly, even fanatically instead of just having some sense of entitlement. They also look for every possible edge both physical and mental. I think in some cases part of their game, is to make others think that it comes easy for them. Unfortunately, immature and naive kids buy into that especially when they may have some superior native talents or physical attributes or abilities.

This isn't something be too alarmed about. We'll keep an eye on this as the season progresses but I'm hoping it is Lavin sending a message that the turnovers need to stop.

Sheed was much more under control last night. Hopefully Lavins message is working like it seemed to last night and rysheed continues to play well. He will find his way in the starting lineup soon enough if he does.

We should be concerned how Rysheed interprets it.
The effect on the court is negligble, because he's still getting more or less the same amount of minutes as a starter. But if Rysheed is retweeting the complaints, and he is, that's a sign somebody isn't happy.

Yes but some think it might've been a friend of sheed using his account. And also as SJU15 pointed out Rysheed has still be very active and lively whether on bench, in timeouts, or on the floor in the games where he hasn't started.

So let's just let it play out. I agree maybe Rysheed did retweet those complaints but for now we aren't sure so we have to see this situation progress,

If Rysheed did retweet those messages, here's a message from me for him to retweet. Keep your mouth shut, stay off twitter, and play your ass off.

I agree with that. I want him on the team, succeeding and getting minutes. I have a hard time buying into some of the accusations against him but if true he is seriously immature and prima donas rarely are a net gain for a team.

Jordan is going nowhere....I highly doubt he goes to the NBA after this season..He wouldn't be a first round pick, and risky second round pick...He needs to stay in school and get an education..Maybe next year will be his year..He needs to mature, and take care of the rock

Will be interesting to see if he starts against Fordham. Whether he deserves it or not, sitting on the bench while a clearly inferior Jamal Branch starts ahead of him must be a humiliation for a kid like Jordan.
A second year player who has yet to become a good college player is getting 30 minutes a game. In Kansas he would be told to be quite and have a seat. Sheed should not be humiliated because Branch, a senior, gets a few minutes at the start of a game. I would hope he's rooting for him to do well.

Jordan has "yet to become a good college player"??? Surely, you jest.
Don't get me wrong, he's immature, not very likeable and needs a kick in the butt. But he's a very real talent and easily the second best player on our team.

Not based on production.

Who's been more productive? Greene has played well the last couple of games, but through the season this far, they've played identical minutes per game and Jordan's outscored, out-rebounded and out-assisted him.
