Rysheed Jordan

The Twitter account of the perpetrator is now private which is probably good. The team doing great and we don't need someone living in the Land of Basketball Make Believe tweeting things that will bring negativity to the program.

I'm looking forward to kicking Fordham around MSG tomorrow and that's it.

exactly. .. it isn't even our Tom in Salem. .. it's some dumb ass Syracuse fan.... probably reads our board and is still sour over the loss last week.

edit...I am incorrect about it being a Syracuse fan... thanks for the heads up db

I have not addressed the transfer issue because it is ludicrous. Does anyone here truly think this "student-athlete" wants to transfer to any college to take classes and not play after he himself announced he was leaving after this year? Lavin is fighting for his job and even a knucklehead like him will not let Jordan pull a Sampson on him this year. The kid is sitting because he has been reckless in the offensive sets. Transfer? LMFOA! He likely is barely staying eligible and will not be seen in classes after March. Only coaches like John Calipari and coach K can afford players with Rysheed's mentality since they reload with talent every single year. Coach Lavin shot his load in his first year and has been shooting himself in the foot ever since recruiting wise. Let's just enjoy this year and hope for the best because Lavin is going to either shock us in March with late signings or we start over again. Had he pulled a recruiting coup this October he would have had a contract extension. No coach at this salary level gets renewed without recruits so the mystery will be over by the second week of April.

Agree Jordan is not going anywhere now, but will probably be out the door the minute season ends. JaKarr, btw, finished the semester to SJU's advantage.

Jordan's teammates obviously have dedicated themselves to team play this year. Hop on board Rysheed! Buying in will help jump start your professional aspirations. Becoming a problem child won't.

The big difference between Jakarr and Rysheed is about 5 inches. Guards that can play and own refined games - REALLY play - are plentiful. Jordan is so far from being a legitimate NBA prospect right now that we are more delusional than even Jordan to think that there is a professional future for him with his current state of game. Consider where Pearl Washington was as a Syracuse sophomore. Jordan isn't 1/20th the college player Washington was, and even Washington couldn't manage to enjoy a long NBA career. IF he's leaving, he'd better get it in gear soon.

Not disagreeing with your post but who do you think has the better NBA body?

I (and all of us) love Jordan's sky high potential, but he's got to turn talent into production. On your point, he's not only 6'4" but is a long 6'4" and has little trouble getting his shot off around the hoop. Then again, Justin Burrell had an NBA body also. I hope Jordan puts it together, and when he leaves SJU it's for the NBA, not d-league or Europe.

Jordan has been stuffed several times or thrown up wild shots or turned it over when he's driven to the hoop and been surounded by bigger defenders. He needs to recognize when he's at a disadvantage and either pass or not put himself in so deep that he has no hope of scdoring.

I agree that Jordan is making a ton of mistakes, but let's recognize that Jordan has shown far more than just "potential" at this point. He is the team's second leading scorer, leader in assists, he is a crucial part of this team. I hope he can settle down, mature and continue to grow.

lol!!! So some clown nobody knows posts utter bull**** and we get 15 pages of mostly entertaining hand-wringing and panic before it's figured out.

God bless the internet!

Yes exactly, it's some disgruntled Syracuse fan who has his page festooned with pictures of snowstorms and Bernie Fine and enjoys " St.John's hoops." Good sleuthing Sherlock.

tbh I'm just looking at it on my phone and it doesn't show most of what you just mentioned. However now looking at it on my laptop I can see the rest of the picture. Still false information. Now go eff yourself ;)

Jordan has not played well....period. He has potential, has shown potential, but there is nothing worse than wasted potential. It appears he wants to carry himself like a star and be thought of as a star but he hasn't played anything close to a star's game. If he wants to transfer, don't let the door hit you on the way out. It would hurt our depth for sure but so be it. I am not a big Lavin fan but I have no problem with his handling of this situation at all. Look at Harrison's reaction to Lavin's treatment and Jordan's (assuming he transfers, which seems a big if; I don't know Tom's source and it doesn't appear anyone else has picked it up yet); to me it speaks volumes as to the character of each. I know which one I would like to be in a foxhole with. Last point, Obepka wanted out, stayed and he certainly looks like a better player for it.

It'd be a big deal. Regardless of how you feel about his playing what happens if Branch gets hurt (like two years ago)? We already need to worry about basically all the other starters getting hurt due to our limited depth, but this would just be adding to that problem. PG and CO the two areas we can't replace this season.

It'd be a huge deal. This is the biggest recruit in the Lavin-era, and he would be leaving a team that just became ranked, and needs a successful season in the worst way.

That too of course.

Uh, I said it would hurt our depth for sure. Having said that, enough is enough; if he wants to leave because he is not starting because of terrible play, see ya!!

Terrible is a stretch IMO. He's played alright with too many turnovers. If he does transfer I'm not buying it's because he doesn't start. Because he's still been getting starters minutes.

No IMO he has played terrible relative to his ability. He has primarily played for himself; not totaly but primarily.

Look at Dom from last yr to this yr. Always thought he had next level potential.

Probably will not happen but Jordan should stay another yr. If he could develop an outside jumper from 3 say 40% he would be sort after

Thanks, I wasnt sure by your post weather you thought Rysheed had the body of an nba guard or not. Like you mentioned his 6'4" and long frame is exactly what the nba guards have turned into.

Outstanding all around game by Sheed today. Hopefully a game which catapults him to a higher level of play for rest of season

Does Jordan's play today kill this overdone thread?

Not at all; an excellent game overall but still one game. And not to end on a negative, it was an excellent game.

Jordan was brilliant. Didn't see any dribbling into triple teams and forcing of shots and played some great D too. I could do without a couple of hot dog plays but I won't complain.

One positive outgrowth of Rysheed's move to the bench has been the confidence build for Branch....Sheed deserves to start but presumably needed to receive a message which he obviously demonstrated today was received as he took care of ball and minimized forced drives...Branch's game looks more free flowing and fluid...hopefully we benefit from grwoth in both players

Why does it matter, except maybe to Sheed's ego, whether he starts or comes off the bench? he's going to get plenty of PT either way.

I was really excited to see an actual St. John's story in the news feed of my Yahoo browser. Although the comments section had guys complaining that Jordan's name in the title was "click bait." They actually argued that people thought or would think it was Michael Jordan-related.

I think Jordan will return to the starting lineup soon, but I do like the idea of one of your best players coming in as a sub. Basketball game rhythm is ebbs and flows, and a guy who can score points coming off the bench helps to ignite a team. The old Celtics were famous for that with their best player (Havlicek) often coming off the bench. The old Knicks deployed the same strategy by starting Bill Bradley over Cazzie Russell (a better scorer). Jordan off the bench supplies a lot more firepower than Branch, and with Greene and Harrison in the starting lineup supplying offense, Branch can be more effective as a starter than sub.

In any event, good to see Jordan bring his A game.
