He's retweeting Temple fans 10-to-1. They're showing him a lot of love.

You cannot dismiss what Khalif Wyatt did this year. And Jordan was basically at every Temple home game watching him do it. The kid loves Philly to death. SJU probably is better suited for him because Temple will have more roster turnover. But Temple did what we haven't done with our local recruits. Dunphy was at practically every single game Jordan played. That does not go unnoticed.

I go back to Lavin making a statement months ago saying that all would be well if we don't get any '13 recruits. A head coach should never utter those words.

I don't care who is back next year but a recruiter of Lavin's caliber should never whiff on all targets in a calendar year.

Kyle Anderson showed tons of love to Seton Hall fans, and he also attended games for years. Kyle Anderson also attended two separate Midnight Madness events at Georgetown.

Jordan lives in Philly, so why not go to the games.... Most kids love their city. Not to mention, Corey Fisher were at plenty of St. John's home games. I bet he would've tweeted much love for the Johnnies, if Twitter existed at that particular time.

If Jordan ends up at Temple, then it wouldn't be shocking. But I don't think none of this stuff is very telling, as kids tend to thrive on the attention.

Lastly, Willard was the most visible at Kyle Anderson games. Granted, all of the coaches involved were quite visible in his recruitment, but if a coach had to be chosen for the least visible, then it was Howland. I'd expect Dunphy to take in Jordan's games, similarly to any collegiate coach to attend high school games in their backyard.

Like you said though. We don't have a very social fanbase. Good or bad thats up in the air. Other schools fans bombard kids on Twitter and Facebook.

You can't compare this to Kyle. Him popping for UCLA was in the books long before his announcement. A family doesn't just pack up and move across coasts at the drop of a hat. There were much more things going on in Kyle's recruitment beyond attending games.

Does anyone here have a plausible reason why the NY POY Jon Severe is sitting right there at CTK and we didn't go after him? Did you see his cut list? It's laughable.

Guess what? In the game called recruiting, there are generally things going on beyond attending games. I've heard many, recruiting tales over my time while following recruiting. Some of 'em are probably just 'tales,' where others are more than just hearsay. Sometimes, the truth is stranger than a lie.

I can't explain the Severe situation. You'll have to ask the staff for that reasoning. But I know with one scholarship, and while targeting Jordan, then they must feel confident in landing Jordan. Or, they feel, if they miss out on Jordan, then they can use the scholarship towards a '14 kid.

I saw Severe's cut list. Is his list laughable? I really didn't see any "heavy hitters" on his list other than possibly Pitt. Once you take out the emotional element, then you may see why the staff didn't go after him. I haven't seen Severe, so I can't comment on him. It does seems like he can get buckets. IMO, that is what Hatten did in his time here.... Get buckets. I'm not saying, Severe will be Hatten, but I like players who are just wired to find ways to score. I know the staff did place out feelers for him. Maybe, if they had two scholarships, then they would've offered.

Who knows!?! Maybe, they'll regret not being a serious player for him in the end. I think Severe will end up being a four-year player, and you need guys like that to stabilize your program.

With our lack of shooting the fact that Jorden is our only target suprises me w Sina and Severe still available. Need a backup plan. Look at last game Branch far from a 100%. Felix injured, DLO suspended and us playong walkons.

You want to know what I think? As stupid as it sounds, because a kid like Severe isn't cracking anyone's Top 100 list, we ignored him. Nevermind the fact that he just dropped 40 points in a state tourney game. He is in our very own backyard and we basically snubbed our nose at him.

If we miss out on Jordan, fine. We're up against a lot.

But you can't let quality local kids go elsewhere. And that was my point about Dunphy.

Dunphy may never land a recruit of Jordan's caliber again in his lifetime. But he did exactly what he needed to do for one of his state's best players. He went balls out (no Fraschilla) to land him. We don't do that for our local recruits. Sometimes it works as in Obekpa's case. But many times, especially in this social media landscape, it doesn't work.

Obekpa's personality is more hands off. A kid like Jordan on the other hand practically lives on twitter.

You have a gem in your backyard, show him everything he needs to see and if you fail, just tip your hat. Willard did that with Kyle.

With McCullough, we were left there standing with our hands in our pockets as he just so happened to commit right after Boeheim visited a practice of his at Brewster.

Phil Greene didn't crack any top 100 lists. Derrick Wood and Phillip Nolan barely cracked any of those lists, either. How about Christian Jones?

Your point about Dunphy not letting quality kids go elsewhere also doesn't really fly. First of all, Jordan has yet to commit. Secondly, comparing Dunphy to Jordan and Lavin to Severe are also totally different. Jordan is viewed as a "cant miss" prospect. Severe isn't at this juncture. Severe could be well worth being offered a schlolarship, but obviously the staff felt it would be better served being offered to Jordan rather than Severe. Like I stated before, if they had an additonal schlolarship, then maybe they would've offered Severe.

As, far as McCullough and Syracuse.... Maybe, he always wanted to go to Syracuse. Or, Syracuse had their "hands in their pockets." Who knows?!

Here is a story I do know.... It's about a local kid from several years ago.... Raymond Felton (current Knickerbocker; former UNC star). He's from a small town in South Carolina (Latta). The Gamecocks and Clemson were all over him. Recruiting him at a feverish pitch. Guess what? It didn't matter. He had always wanted to be a Tar Heel. The other schools (and, there were plenty) were wasting their time. Once, UNC offered (I believe during the summer leading up to his senior season in HS).... That was all she wrote.

I don't know if that was McCullough's situation or not. Just stating that it could've been the case. I understand some folks are frustrated, but can we please take the emotional element out of it?

Perhaps Lavins judgement on talent is not all it is cracked up to be

Maybe Lavin needs to think about bringing in a top recruiter like a Fred Hill or Barry Rohrssen type. Doesn't seem like we have any big time recruiters on the staff.

Where is the emotion?

And Phil Greene has lived up to his ranking or lack thereof. We went after Nolan because we needed size and Obekpa's recruitment was going past the late signing period.

I honestly feel that the staff identifies recruits based on rankings and then go after them. A NY POY should never go unrecruited by SJU, regardless of their ranking. We showed interest in Facey and he chose otherwise. The amount of opportunities we've had to scout Severe and we didn't even give him a look.

Jordan being a "can't miss" prospect is exactly the point. They're swinging for the fences. What exactly has Ish Wainright done this year? But he's ranked.

I'm not saying don't go after highly ranked recruits. I'm saying don't snub your nose at quality local recruits in your own backyard. You seriously think we have a chance with Mudiay, the 2nd ranked recruit in 2014? Again, another home run swing.

Lavin has shown that he is a more than capable recruiter. We don't really need another one.

I'm talking about his recruiting philosophy.

Maybe Lavin needs to think about bringing in a top recruiter like a Fred Hill or Barry Rohrssen type. Doesn't seem like we have any big time recruiters on the staff.

Lavin is known for his recruiting. The staff also has Tony Chiles who has been good. The problem has been we needed to bring in 10 people at once. You will never hit on all 10. As many of you know the relationships that some of these coaches have with their recruits goes back years. Then you add in the 3 ineligible players, the loss of Lindsay who was supposed to be the point guard (not as big of a loss as we though), the cancer and so on and so on I do not know if it is fair to expect much more from this team at this point. Even Calapari, who wins with Freshmen, looks like he missed with his class this year. It's a crap shoot. I do not think you can underestimate the fact that this is an ongoing attempt to rebuild a program that had to replace the whole team and do it quickly. I think we all would have liked to have had a better year. However, Lavin said in the beginning of the season that he expected it to be his toughest year of coaching. Looks like he knew what he was talking about. Some on this staff have been around college basketball for a long time. Even after Lavin was fired by UCLA he was around, and talking to, some of the best coaches in the country. He has Keady on his staff. I am sure they talk X's and O's. We all expected more this year. Maybe we expected too much. Next year will tell.

for those of you that think that Keady, Lavin, and Carnessecca don't sit down and talk about X's and O's you must be out of your mind.

Adding to this, for any player out there, where else do you get 3 great coaches for the price of 1?

Check his twitter timeline.

Who knows!?! Maybe, they'll regret not being a player for him in the end.

It doesn't matter what Greene is doing nor why we went after Nolan. You made a point why you think we aren't going after Severe, and I made a counterpoint.

Once again, if they identified on rankings, then there wasn't any reason to go after Greene, Wood, Nolan, and Jones. It doesn't fly in the face of facts. You're being contradicting.

Why not "swing for the fence?" Most coaches in high level conferences swing for the fence. Whether, it's all the time or occasionally.... They will swing for the fence. I've given you four other names that wasn't supposedly "fence swingers."

I have no problem with them going after Mudiay. We probably won't land him, but you probably would've said the same when we were initially targeting Gathers. He was a top 35 player in the Deep South, and we initially landed him prior to him reneging. I'm sure they'll have a contingency plan, in case Mudiay doesn't matriculate.
