Rysheed Jordan

It seems like Miguel the troll has some bad info from 'his friends' in Philly (like anyone actually believed that anyway)

Hopefully he holds up his end of the deal and leaves once Jordan doesn't commit to Temple

@DaveKrupinski: When it rains, it pours for #stjbb. Heard from multiple sources today that Rysheed Jordan is strong lean towards #UCLA #GoBruins

I was wary of UCLA once I was told they were a serious darkhorse. We'll see what transpires next month.

I doubt anyone believed he had any news on Jordan from his friends in Philly. Most posters decided not to entertain him. He was trolling (as, you stated), per usual.

If he does indeed leave the board, then I have a hunch he'll re-emerge under another screenname.

Ouch! If true, 3/1/13, will be a dark day in SJU history. And if you believe bad news happens in threes whats gonna happen in rhode island tomorrow

I never reported you to any moderator, so I haven't attempted to get you banned. If you're banned, then it'll be due to your actions on this board.

I saw where you stated he hasn't committed yet.... This is true. We'll certainly find out next month.

Apparently St. John's HC Steve Lavin is in the building, a full 90 minutes before the scheduled start of the Vaux game.

St. John's coach Steve Lavin on hand to see Vaux's Rysheed Jordan
POSTED: Friday, March 15, 2013, 6:29 PM

St. John's basketball coach Steve Lavin attended Friday night's Vaux boys' basketball playoff game to get a closer look at Rysheed Jordan according to The Inquirer's Rick O'Brien.

Jordan, a 6-foot-3 senior point guard, is the nation's top un-committed senior guard according to ESPN and is between UCLA, Temple and Lavin's Red Storm. He is expected to announce his decision after the PIAA playoffs. St. John's coaches have attended some of Jordan's other games this season.

Vaux plays Church Farm at 7:30 at La Salle High.

I doubt he would waste his time on a kid that is 100% headed to UCLA

Must still believe we have a shot with him

Bingo!

If he feels there is no chance of getting a kid, then he'll stop wasting his resources and time.

Whether, we land him or not is different. But there is certainly still a chance.

Wow, this is some dedication coming from a Coach rumored to be heading out west by a bunch of knuckleheads on this board. Maybe he thinks he can convince the kid to go to USC since we know he's already got some interest in UCLA. Idiots.

I'm glad Coach is pushing hard for another talented kid as he continues the rebuild of our team. Unlike many, many others on this board, I am not jumping off this ship like a bunch of rats (was that a Mark Jackson line once?). I believe Coach is getting this turned around and hopefully Rysheed agrees.

With St. John's coach Steve Lavin watching from behind the Vaux bench, Rysheed Jordan opted to be more of a facilitator than a scorer.

"He was playing off us more than anything," Cougars senior swingman Lester Mattox said. "That's nothing new. He does that all the time."

With the 6-foot-4 senior phenom looking for Mattox and others, Vaux fought past Church Farm, 68-64, Friday night in a PIAA Class A boys' quarterfinal at La Salle High.

Jordan, who also is considering Temple and UCLA, settled for nine points. His first field-goal try in second half came with 5 minutes, 40 seconds to play.

"He's a patient player," Church Farm coach Marc Turner said. "He understood we weren't going to give him the driving lanes. He did what a great guard does, which is look for the open guy."

Amir Butler, a 6-2, 200-pound senior forward, paced the Cougars (22-8) with 17 points, Mattox drained four first-half three-pointers en route to 14 points.

"At the beginning of the year, I was making a lot of threes," Mattox said. "Before this, I was in a slump. My shot is starting to fall again."

Tuesday, at a neutral site and time to be determined, Vaux will clash with Math, Civics & Sciences in a semifinal. The Mighty Elephants played poorly but eliminated Sankofa Freedom Academy, 71-59, in the first game at La Salle.

Vaux, ranked No. 5 in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Inquirer, and No. 6 MC&S split meetings during the regular season. The winner of the rubber match will punch a ticket to Hershey.

"I'm anxious for the rematch," Butler said. "We just have to play hard and do the things we did last time."

The Cougars prevailed, 62-61, last month in the Public League Class A championship game.

Against Church Farm, Vaux led by as many as 17 in the first half and were in front, 41-25, at the break. Mattox nailed four threes in the first 11 minutes.

Junior guard Tyler Ofray paced the Griffins (24-7) with 17 points, including four threes. Mlynue Reeves, a 6-7 senior forward, was next

Vaux 14 27 8 19 – 68

Church Farm 15 10 13 26 – 64

V: Rysheed Jordan 9, Amir Butler 17, Trayvond Massenberg 9, Lester Mattox 14, Sammy Foreman 7, Karon Snead 6, Daron Johnson 6.

CF: Aondofa Anyam 2, Michael Mohamed 5, Larry Cermak 10, Jan Bohm 6, Joey Shelton 3, Tyler Ofray 17, John Rodriguez 8, Mlynue Reeves 13.

Good Jnaw17
ABSOLUTELY he's getting this thing turned around - we've had so much positive "stuff" since Coach Lavin took over - no one could do better - plus I sense he plans to stick sround and get a coupla hundred" win in NYC.
It's so far off base some of the critique we've witnessed - I suppose people have a right etc. - but to broad brush rejecting remarks against Coach Lavin rather than more precisely focus on a particular play - ??? to generalize how bad Coach Lavin is doing here and there and at UCLA, and when he was in grammar school, and in high school, and with recruits, and with handling his players, and with losses, and with how he handled his cancer and dad's death….

give it a break my fellow SJU fans

We could be in no better position with no better coach than what we have.

Good for Coach Lavin. Good for his staff. Good for the players we have and who are to come.
And of course good for we SJU people - it's been a long haul between Louie and Steve.

Lavin has free time with a first round loss, so he should be doing everything he can to try to find and convince players to join his program. I would be surprised if everyone comes back next year..

@TheRecruitScoop: 2013 Vaux (PA) guard Rysheed Jordan will make his college decision on April 15th between UCLA, Temple & St. John's.
