Rysheed Jordan

you can't redshirt someone to take them off of a scholarship. You can have someone pay their way (for example, Hooper), or someone with options can continue at another institution (for example, Gift, who should graduate this spring/ summer). And that doesn't account for players who might seriously consider their pro option, like Jakarr and Amir.

Or if Jones explores other options.

Hope that specific scenario doesn't happen...thought, and still think, CJones can develop in a real solid if not big time contributor by the time senior year roles around...ala Dejuan Blair possibly

If Orlando returns, it's Gift who leaves.

if Gift leaves that's a really shitty situation, he got redshirted this year and doesn't have a scholarship for next year. I hope that doesn't happen.

Um, Dejuan Blair pulled down 9 rb per game as a frosh and 12 as a soph before leaving early. Christian Jones has pulled down 16 rebounds ALL FREAKING YEAR! DeJuan Blair averaged 1 rebound every 2.5 minutes, CJ gets a rebound ever 10 minutes. Blair arrived at Pitt as a complete big albeit one without cartilage in his knees but one with the desire and skill level as a HS grad that CJones can only dream of ever achieving. Other than that the comparison is right on. Can CJ be a growing contributor over the course of a 4 year STJ career? Sure, but he'll never be DeJuan Blair, There's nothing about them at this point that is even vaguely comparable.

Easy Big guy- reason why i bolded "senior year" and added "possibly" at the end- he's got 3 years to develop and wouldn't want to see him go as some people have posted. As far as comparisons- pretty sure they are the same height... thats one thing lol- Here's to hoping Cjones dreams come true then ;)

There are others I would prefer to see "explore options" before Jones

Another obvious possibility is that one or more guys go pro (NBA or overseas)
I do not have any inside information and I don't believe that anyone is ready for that right now
But that doesn't mean that someone won't give it a shot

We have the ship regardless of the Sanchez situation.

We have 13 players on cholarship. If Sanchez stays we will have all 13 of those back assuming noone transfers.

Well if noone transfers that will open up a schollie. On the other hand, if no one transfers we will have the stated 13. ;)

Haha good catch bama. But I was just paying homage to the Jeff Daniels character from the movie blood work. :)

Gift's high end academics and graduating on time open up many options for him to play during graduate study for one year. Harvard as big brother mentor for the Nigerian heritage big they have entering as a freshman?

Can they offer Gift and Orlando Academic Scholarships instead of Athletic Scholarships to balance things out and make room?

We're definitely getting way ahead of ourselves in this discussion. As of now, Sanchez is ineligible next year and Rysheed has not committed here. Would be great to get them both for next year. But let's cross that bridge when we get there.

Bridged crossed...
There are no minutes for Gift. They wanted him around next year w/Primo playing this season.

Nice player, great kid, who will find plenty of minutes elsewhere

@DaveKrupinski: When it rains, it pours for #stjbb. Heard from multiple sources today that Rysheed Jordan is strong lean towards #UCLA #GoBruins
