Rysheed Jordan

In our type of offense, we need a kid that can get to the hoop ala Peyton Siva. Siva isn't the purest Pg I've seen, but Jordan fits that style. He's a good passer, even If he's not a slow it down floor general. Maybe Tyshaw Taylor is a better comparison as in style of player? If you watched us vs Syracuse, we would have been well served by a big, fast Pg that can use his ability to get to the hoop and draw the defense. That is what creates assists, not magician-like passing. Jordan would be an amazing commit if we are able to land him somehow. Phil Greene is nowhere near an apt comparison beause Phil doesn't take it to the hoop all that well. Jordan has more height, athleticism and skills overall to dominate defenders.

Combo guard? Not everybody thinks so...

exactly, phil would be ten times better if he could just get by his defender on a more consistent basis. We need penetration.

I think Tyshawn is a great comparison, particularly because of his size.

Phil can get to the hoop. Problem is his basketball IQ is terrible. Lavin relies a lot on the smarts of his PG rather than actual diagrammed plays. The IQ is what separates Phil from let's say a very heady and patient Dwight Hardy. This is why I'm taking more about the type of recruits we go after than Jordan himself (don't get me wrong, I'd love to have him). I'm just not sure if his "type" is what we need.

We should have Obekpa for 2 more seasons and Jakarr & Gift for one. Obekpa and Gift both have butter fingers and are poor at creating shots on their own. I'd rather have a pass-first PG (regardless of ranking) who can get them easy buckets because we are going to need our bigs to score. I don't think a combo guard gets us that. Just my $0.02.

MJ, what's the story with Jordan Washington? He was on our radar at one point and reports would suggest he would fit our need for bulk and a rebounder. Plus, he's a local kid.

Some people do not believe he's gonna be eligible to play as a frosh.

I like Washington. Low level D1 recruit but you know he's going to board for you and get easy putbacks. Garbageman.

Too bad if what you say is true. You noticed that we've given up career rebounding games to Dieng of Louisville, the kid from Fordham and another game that I'm forgetting right now.

We are in need for a PG as can be seen by our last two games... with a week off, I dont see why Hines could not have taken a two hour drive down to the championship game, who knows maybe there was also an obscure uncommitted 7fotter there to help our needs.

looks like while the cats away the mice will play.

missed opportunity!

Maybe it was Rico's birthday weekend or something? Who knows

So now "combo guard" has become a derogatory term? Now we don't want a kid because he can score the ball? Smh!

Who said it's derogatory?

We have 3 combo guards right now. Branch looks like he can be a good passer. Phil and D'Lo just want to score. PGs that are too short to be legit SGs.

Do you know what our guards Assists Per Game are?

The title combo guard should have never been given to greene. He is a SG.

Any insiders here?

@EvanDanielsFOX: Rysheed Jordan is down to St. John's Temple & UCLA. Plans to decide in April ($) ...http://t.co/AXjIDu2ea4

I believe there are a handful of folks on here who have a paid subscription to Scout. I told Moose a couple days ago that I believed Jordan was gonna either gonna wait 'til his HS season was over or the late signing period. It seems it's gonna be the latter unless he changes his mind.

I still believe what I was told 'til I hear something credibly different.... We are in very, good shape (if not the leader) with UCLA being a serious darkhorse in this one.

I don't know why these recruits wait so long to sign, they could break a leg and nobody would be interested . If it were me, I'd sign right away and lock in the scholarship.

Because if you sign its tough to get out.
Why rush a decision if you aren't sure.

If you don't sign during the early signing period you cannot sign until the late signing period which starts in mid April. Also if a player is injured I do not believe the school has to honor the schollie though in football they often do but you are dealing with 85 schollies plus walk-ons that actually can play talent wise vs hoops with only 13 schollies.

How would he pick UCLA over us? They just brought in a ridiculously loaded class and he will not get nearly the same playing time as here. We need another PG in the worst way especially considering Greene is not a real PG.

He would be the only point guard on the roster. Larry Drew is graduating, and backup Kyle Anderson is the starting Power Forward, and likely will be if back next year (no new bigs are signed).
