Rysheed Jordan

The thought of having Harrison, Greene, Branch, and Jordan all are on one team is so tempting. SJU would be a really tough team to beat w/ those players in our backcourt.

Very encouraging retweet by RJ:

@gionysports: When all 3 coaches come you know he's top of list RT @AdamZagoria: #stjbb only has 1 ship left and it's clear @sheedjordan is the priority

all 3 coaches there says something... any alumni from the philly area that cant make the Pitt game on Sunday should try to show up to his game @temple wearing all red!! it cant hurt.

Is Jordan a true PG more geared towards assists? How is his shooting stroke? Can he penetrate better than Branch?

Have you watched his videos? What's your take?

Honestly I've never really been a good scout video wise. Highlight videos can be deceiving as well as exaggerate. Nothing really stood out at me from his videos one way or another. That's why I was asking those more adept at gaining knowledge from scouting videos.

Nobody here is really an expert :) We are all just fans. Yes highlight videos are highlight videos and you rarely see the bad. Also the competition and other factors need to be weighed. But you can see his form. Not that form matters (Karr), his dribble, athleticism, aggression, etc.

Jordan is very, much a capable passer. He has to score for his HS team (and, he's more than capable of doing so), which is partly the reason he puts up the numbers.

His shooting stroke has improved, based on what scouts were saying about him a season ago. He's someone that will keep the defense honest.

Is he a better penetrator than Branch? Not sure how to answer that question at the moment. But he can get into the lane, and explode to the hoop. He uses his body well, and has excellent, body control.

I'm not sure Jordan is "true" PG or not, but he can certainly do things (find the open man and direct the team) like a PG. Like I said about a week ago.... If we land Jordan, then we'll be fine whenever Branch has to go to the bench (ie, rest, foul trouble, or injury).

Oh goodie. More newcomers so we can forever be the Youngest Team in the Nation,

A conspiracy theory not that far fetched! LOL!
Sit our most senior, and scholastically intelligent player, Gift. Move at a snails pace in providing the NCAA with proof that our 24 year old recruit is not 25.
Now, throw in Jakarr and call him a freshman when he actually graduated with our sophs and I still find it hard-pressed to think our sophs are the youngest team in the nation unless it is a Lavin excuse.

We all waited to see what Lavin could do with his own recruits and now we have a glimpse. Shades of Brian Mahoney with a little Hollywood glam.........although holding up "Lavinwood" signs seems to have worn on the student fans as well.
Ah, Bob Dylan, may we stay forever young!

I am guessing Moose is using sarcasm.

If we use that line of reasoning which you agree with, than what is the alternative? Should the staff not recruit anyone? In that way, the team is simply a year older and can satisfy your quest to aleviate Lavin's built-in inexperience excuse.

Maybe we should go with the Jarvis approach to recruiting, and recruit JUCO's only. Then we can have a team of 23 year olds.

Never 24 year olds of course, since our compliance department would mess that up and cause a NCAA delay in eligibility.

paesan' I was using sarcasm also but with a sharper edge.
We are playing the most pitiful basketball defense that I have ever witnessed on a redmen team....ever! ...

Beg to differ ... Mahoney's teams were the absolute worst defensively.

Agree with this. Scoring guard who is big and explosive but does have good vision. His jumper is actually much better then I thought it would be. Another thing to is he has very quick hands and gets alot of steals

His team lost the city championship 67-66

Vaux's Rysheed Jordan netted 45 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 1 assist. He hit four three-pointers.

Hoops: Imhotep survives 45-point effort by Jordan

IMHOTEP CHARTER 67, ROBERTS VAUX 66

For what Imhotep Charter coach Andre Noble called "some bad practice efforts," Abraham Massaley recently lost his starting position.

"I'm not used to coming off the bench," the senior guard said. "But at this point of the season, you have to put your ego aside and just play hard."

Sunday at Temple's Liacouras Center, it was Massaley's late basket that lifted the Panthers to a 67-66 triumph over Rysheed Jordan and never-say-die Roberts Vaux in a thrilling Public League final. His deciding field goal, on a left-side drive, came with 11 seconds to play.

"I was supposed to come off a high screen, " the 5-foot-11, 160-pounder said. "But I saw that my defender was overplaying me. To me, that was a green light to drive on him. That's what I did."

In overcoming a 45-point performance by Jordan, Imhotep claimed its fourth Public League crown in five seasons. The Panthers also avenged last month's 73-51 drubbing against the Cougars.

Lots of youngster on the team. Sanchex proved to be another story and GG sat on the bench. Don't forget Max H

A year older but not improving without a PG
Jamal Branch is a very good PG. All we need is someone to share minutes with him at the point. If Sanchez is eligible next year and we get Jordan, we will be fine.

will we even have a scholarship to offer Jordan with GG coming back and Orlando possibly being cleared to play?

can we redshirt someone else to make room for his scholarship if Orlando is cleared?

you can't redshirt someone to take them off of a scholarship. You can have someone pay their way (for example, Hooper), or someone with options can continue at another institution (for example, Gift, who should graduate this spring/ summer). And that doesn't account for players who might seriously consider their pro option, like Jakarr and Amir.

Or if Jones explores other options.
