Rysheed Jordan

Also, I think it's worth considering that there's a very real chance we have only 1 scholarship available.
The big "if" is going to be whether Dangelo wants to start playing overseas now, or if he comes back.

Don't think Jakarr is a problem. And definitely not Chris O. Always possible that someone transfers tho.

My money is still on Jones transferring, especially since he may never get to play many minutes. Hey, I'm still hoping Lavin is motivating him to the point he becomes an animal on the boards when he gets his next chance.

It, however, is believed the 6-foot-3 Jordan will remain local, at Temple, not St. John’s or UCLA, the other school he is considering.

It has been the rumor for months.......I hope MJDinkins wish...becomes true however.

My wish? It should be the wish of all St. John's fans. It was what I was told by someone who has access to the situation.

By the way, how about the rumors that Obekpa was (long) headed to Cincy? Or, Pointer's dad preaching Michigan prior to Pointer verballing to St. John's. Many folks assumed he was headed to Ann Arbor based on his father's quotes. What about when folks thought Sampson had spurned the Johnnies, and was headed to either Kansas or Providence?

You can tell by the way the piece was written that it's an assumption based on Jordan's proximity to Temple. We are in very, good shape with Jordan. Of course, one shouldn't feel comfortable until he's committed and signed with the Johnnies.

What tells me we have a slight advantage over Temple is this: 1) NYC is still only 90 miles up I-95 so he will still be very close to home taking away a Temple advantage or at least making it a wash 2) Temple as of right now will be playing SMU, UCF, Tulane, etc. in a few years and may very well have terrible competition while we are basically set 3) UCLA won't be able to give him enough minutes 4) The fact that he has waited this long is telling IMO...if he was going to stay home it would be a quick decision I would think. SJ is the best all-around school on the list he could ask for when taking into consideration: proximity to home, major hoops, and a set future guaranteed to remain competitive. Though Temple is very good, it's a mid-major with no future and could end up down the drain with those ugly new Big East additions.

You and your constant mid-major talk. Let it go already.

Take a look at our record and take a look at who we've lost to and you might stop poking your chest out as if we are in some better situation right now. "Major hoops". Oh please. Take a look at Creighton. You may not want to hear this but there are a ton of mid-majors that would wipe the MSG floors and Penn Station with your esteemed Johnnies team.

You make an argument for Rysheed saying that if he was so crazy about Temple being close to home, he would've verballed already. Well, isn't that the exact same scenario for Lawrence?

With the way college basketball is nowadays, I pretty much guarantee there will be a player that either (a) leaves for pro ball (b) transfers. There's no such thing has patience anymore and every student athlete believes they can be a star if they were just given minutes.

Again, I'm not speculating as to who those players might be, but I think it's safe to assume a spot will eventually open up.

Those terrible Mid Majors think alot of the Catholic 7 are garbage teams. I've been reading their forums. We had 1 good year since 2000 . SJU.,Seton Hall Depaul and Providence have been awful the last dozen years.
I hope SJU learned a lesson they have to spend money to get the better coaches.

Tell me which mid major program would not jump at the chance to be part of the C7 if logistacally feasable?

Money talks and $500 million over 12 years, is a lot of talking.

Jordan was a bit too overzealous there at the end (handed the ball to Brandon Austin towards the end of a blowout), but you can see the type of talent we could be getting, nonetheless. He probably got caught up in the moment too much (he and Austin are also friends), as he was laid back when I watched him last month.

What year is Austin in? And has he commited to any school? Boy, is this kid smooth; glides through the court with the greatest of ease.

See above (to what Paultzman stated).... By the way, Austin is a senior.

Austin is going to be a great player at Providence. Big get!

Did we recruit him? I know our priorities have been Lawrence and Jordan.

He wasn't on our radar. I do recall him being recruited by other Big East schools (G'town and UConn) other than Providence.

Jordan is a special, special talent. He has the potential to be big time. As for Austin he was originally committed to Penn State but decommitted in the summer and chose Providence a few months ago

Wow great talent. But what poor move at the end. My father would have disowned me.

"My city. I run this city."

Very telling. The pride that he has for Philly.

Going to take a whole lot to pry him away from there.
