Rysheed Jordan

If we need this kid that bad, I dont think it looks good that the Temple head coach is at the game and we send down an assistant coach, I think Lavin should be making that trip if he is that high of a target. some recruits take that into account.

#2. with the Nets playing so well this season, I think that the ability of not only playing at the Garden as your home court but also playing at the new Barclay's arena for tourneys and exhibitions, 2x pro sports arena's is a good selling point for anyone that wants to be on the big stage.

It's all but certain he is committing to Temple. I figured that months ago the way things were going anyway. I'd still rather land Lawrence than him.

Another swing and whiff.

Did I miss the part where he committed to Temple?

He lives six blocks from the school. Why is anyone shocked when he shows up to games there?

Philly isn't that far from NYC...if he really wanted to he could see a SJ game too. It's clear what team he is leaning towards and that team is Temple. If we get Lawrence though I won't care.

Where is the shock that he attended a game?

Temple fans show up to his games with signs made up showing him love. Our fanbase wouldn't have a clue who he is.

Pretty sour considering how well Lavin has recruited. (Think your Karma meter should take a hit.)

2013.
It is what it is. How would you describe it? I'd love to know.

Rysheed just played a game in Philly over the weekend. Chiles was there. Was Lavin too busy to make the trip or was it not worth the 3 hour trek on the PA Tpke to show his face?

(Who cares about that?)

I agree, it sends the wrong message, you need a kid so show up and act like you want him. You don't deserve him if you don't work hard to get him.

Different coaches take the lead in recruiting different kids. It's not always the head coach. If Chiles has been the point man in Rysheed's recruitment, then it makes sense that he would go see him play.

Same old attitude from you and a few other guys on here. Wait until the dust has settled on recruits before you take your ill-advised pot shots. Lavin did just fine the last two years with recruits and will find a way again for 2013. Give it a rest with summarizing the recruiting season in December.

Your "another swing and whiff" comment makes it sound like Lavin has been an inept recruiter. That said, with Gift being red-shirted and Sanchez a question mark, we don't even know if we have a scholarship open for next year. And with Harrison, Greene, Branch, and Balamou all expected back next season, it's not the end of the world if we miss out on Jordan. (Lawrence is far more important recruit, given our need for an inside presence.) Maybe Jordan's concerned about PT or maybe he simply wants to play for his hometown team. Is that so awful? Then again, maybe Lavin is a just lazy recruiter, which what you seem to suggest he is. Unbelievable.

We haven't landed a 2013 recruit. That's a fact, not a pot shot.

Hope you are right, but what makes you think that Lavin can keep getting top 25 classes like it's nothing? Just because RA Dickey was a Cy Young winner this year doesn't mean he will even be remotely close to that next year.

Maybe simplyred, Lavin is the one who is going after Lawrence and just sending Chiles to Jordan. If he that's what is happening it would be good because we need Jermaine more than Jordan

Never said he was an inept nor a lazy recruiter. I'm talking about 2013. Not 2011 or 2012.

All I questioned is why he didn't take a trip to Philly with his assistant. Do you know?

"Swing and a whiff" sounds like a pot shot, especially when you're talking about a kid who hasn't signed yet. Maybe I'm missing something. Didn't Lav also sign 8 kids after this point last year? Let him finish his job first. He's proven several times here that he knows what he's doing, on top of his multiple recruiting successes at UCLA.
