Rysheed Jordan - Stay or Go?

Only at SJU there's drama after a player announces he's coming back. Wouldn't feel right without any. Personally, I think this gets resolved and Sheed is here next year. He's on campus as of today.

so no classes for him in a month?

No big deal. I didn't go to classes for years and still graduated.

Breakage in aisle 12!

Where the hell have you been?

I was in Chicago this past week for work - just got home an hour ago. Very long days, but did manage to have a near religious experience by taking in a Cubs game at Wrigley on a glorious April night, heard GW Bush speak extemporaneously in person (which I think would even have impressed you Tom), and in what should be a felony for a Queens guy, had what may have been the best pizza I ever ate (Lou Malnati's deep dish).

Thanks for asking. It's good to be back, even if I did miss Jack Williams self-imposed leave of absence begin. Well, MAYBE it was self imposed, but possibly parentally mandated as a result of a recent report card. :)

I was in Texas last week on business. Long days also, and a few long nights. Saw a Texas A&M (Ranked No.1) and Rice (ranked No. 13) baseball game and had dinner two nights great steaks on two nights at a nice Steak House.

That Pizza comment coming from a Queens guy is sacrilegious and a felony :)

"Thank You" SSG

because you deserve better damnit! :)

And I will not be satisfied with former players coming through until I know where Lee Green is. :)

You sure that's Lee Green in that picture? Looks more like Dennis Greene after swallowing a turducken! Hope he is well, and his face seems to still have that great charisma.

Yeah, it looks like he put on some pounds there, but just glad he was alive and looking happy as of a couple years ago. It was a nice write up and he obviously loved St. John's so hopefully someone tracks him down and invites him to a game.

Lol, I think you have me confused with one of your co-workers.
No need to still be a hater just because you were one of the guys who got jealous when I borrowed notes for the final and still outperformed you. Thanks again! :p

Do you seriously think I was dissing you? It was a one line joke. I know some incredibly bright people who never went to class because they felt it was a waste of time when teachers gave exams from text books. You're probably one of them. Sorry if you took my post that way - not intended as an insult. And, for the record, I spent a lof of time while in college working weekends and summers in supermarkets - mayo is a total pain in the butt to clean up as breakage. So are eggs - just ask Justin Bieber's neighbor.

While everyone is talking about a potentially monster year from Rysheed, mostly about stats, what I am really hoping to see is a refined, more controlled game: Reduced turnovers, confident running of the offense, improved shooting percentage, and a well rounded boxscore of 17-18 ppg, 5 assists per game, 5 plus rebounds, and a shooting percentage around 50%. If he does that we could be a bubble team.

If Jordan accomplishes that, he could be first round material. What wouldn't impress me is 22 ppg on 40% shooting, poor assist/turnover ration, and only a couple of boards per game. I'm confident that Mullin will let this team run, but not tolerate sloppy play and poor execution.

If Jordan plays close to his collegiate ceiling, this could be a 17-20 win team.

He will have to score and will probably shoot a low %

I just hope he is on the court. Despite his tweet, there is insinuation that this is not a foregone conclusion.

I can't keep up with all the posts/rumors, etc. Does Paultzman have any insight into the Jordan situation?

Not really. I just always view him as a day to day proposition. Hopefully he works hard, does what he has to in school & has a nice season.

I will not be convinced that RJ or CO are not "going pro" until the day after the draft declare deadline comes and we have confirmation. I recall Walter Berry declaring he was staying until he entered into the draft hours before the deadline.

Not worried about Obekpa after deadline passes, but in all honesty, I won't be confident that Jordan is back until he's on campus next school year.

Don't blame you. Btw from Zach B's column today;

"Jordan remains uncertain, though he has announced on Twitter he is returning for his junior year."

Frankly I have heard this referenced by a few folks. Hopefully staff is convinced of his intentions & he buys in. We obviously need him.

Good point.

With each passing day I get more pissed at LoVett for not paying more attention in school.

@RogRubin: Rysheed Jordan was "in the gym today" St. John's coach Chris Mullin said. He and Obekpa will be Johnnies next season. #

Good!

@HowieKussoy: Chris Mullin confirmed Rysheed Jordan will be back at St. John's next season

Very nice!

@NYPost_Brazille: Talked to Kamal Yard today, Rysheed Jordan's advisor. Said NBA was considered, but decided right move was to return to school. #sjubb

@NYPost_Brazille: Kamal Yard: "Chris should be able to help with his overall decision making and I’m sure his shooting and some of his shot selection." #sjubb
