Rysheed Jordan - Stay or Go?

18 5 and 5 next year

Hatten part deux?

No. There was only one MH. As college players, RJ isn't in his league.

what ever happened to hatten? is he still playing anywhere?
I don't know if this up to date but looks to be playing in Romania.

Hatten was really the first sju player I ever loved, if not for him than I probably would never have become a huge fan of st johns. With that said, Rysheed has 4 inches on him and is already a better shooter. Has his last two years been at Marcus's level? No. But the potential is there. Like wsju said, we'll get a chance to find out.

RJ has more pro potential. It's a different game. But on the college level, I'll take MH every day of the week and twice on Sunday. He was a one-man team. RJ may score as many points and put up as many assists (with much more talent around him), but as an overall force on both ends of the floor, no comparison. However, RJ (hopefully) won't have to be a one-man team, so he gets to play a different game - and that's a good thing.

JMHO, YMMV

I think some forget how good Marcus Hatten was. He was so smooth and a bonafide scorer playing with a bunch of misfits around him. Not only that but he always had a smile on his face and looked like he genuinely enjoyed every minute.

+1

However Mase is correct about Jordan being a better pro prospect, and that it looks like he may develop into a better jump shooter as well (much progress second half of last year in that department).

But yes the joy with which Marcus played the game is unforgettable, as are so many of the amazing things he did when he was on it. He was must-see TV, and even better in person.

You nailed it.

I think some forget that Marcus Hatten played only as an upperclassman whilst Rysheed Jordan has played only as an underclassman.

So true.
Smile after the dook win was great!

I thought nothing good ever happened when Jarvis was coach!?

Going to have to put up a reasonable Marcus Hatten impersonation. Hopefully he understands the opportunity that awaits him and embraces it for a year.

"Mullin said he has been in workouts with Jordan and is excited about the idea of coaching him. He has tremendous talent. You have to face the immediate future, getting through finals. But as far as talent, he is really gifted. I think I can really help him develop. I've had some good sessions in the gym with him," Mullin said. "A person with his experience and talent are important. He's performed at a very high level. That's a guy I'd love to work with."

It sounds like Jorden is having academic problems. Made reference to finals and quote that says he would love to work with him, instead of saying I will be looking forward to working w him.

Yes, I understand from a reliable source that he repeatedly misspells his last name as Jordan instead of Jorden.

I think you are reading WAY too much into a quote Mullin didn't intend to be dissected word for word.
Jordan is in the middle of finals, and that is an intense week for anyone--athlete or not.

I agree 100%. I cannot think of anything I disliked more than finals week. Not only are you studying your butt off, but could have term papers to complete as well.

Man, it's so great to hear something about Mullin that isn't about recruiting or assembling a staff. He's already doing some of the work we are all excited about - working with kids to help them improve. With Jordan envision a block of perfect marble that could be on it's way to being a work of art. If Mullin can teach, and Jordan can learn, the sky could be the limit. I'm optimistic about both happening.

Mullin's game didn't need a lot of mustard, but perhaps if Jordan executes one of those Larry Bird, no look, flick your wrist, slap passes to a wide open teammate for a layup, we'll know where Rysheed learned it.*

*If any of you actually know what I'm referring to and can name the game, big bonus points. Unlike the bounce dunk at Syracuse, I can't remember the game for that pass.

finals arent so bad if you find a person easy to cheat from :)

What a paradox, Mike. Being so blatantly honest about being so blatantly dishonest. :)

technically speaking cheating on a test could just be an exercise of comparing answers :)

or look at it like the banking system. 1 person is the bank. The bank lends answers for reciprocal arrangement. Could be a fee or could come in the form of a date from a hot girl who didn't study

I remember the pass which went to Big Bill Wennington who dunked it. I don't remember the team it was against. Might have been Nova but might not have been.

The bounce dunk at Syracuse in the first half of a Saturday afternoon nationally televised game quieted the rabid Cuse Fans (30,000 plus) at the Dome and Cuse didn't put up much of a fight afterwards as St. John's cruised to an easy victory. The only roar from the Cuse fans after that was when a Cuse fan stole the Indian head right of the guy who was wearing the mascot costume and made a mad dash up the stairs and out of the arena, never to be seen (at least by a St. John's supporter) again.
