RIP Coach Carnesecca

During the halftime show between the Texas- San Antonio vs Tulane game, Seth Greenberg was asked about the button he was wearing on his suit jacket lapel. See the pictures below.

He said it was in honor of Lou Carnesecca. He called him an amazing person not just as a coach but as a person and of all the lives he impacted. He said the man made the coach and said to him that is the highest compliment he can give.

I wonder if Lapchick would have favored Bob Knight, who he was very close with. Knight of course, was very early in his career.

Bobby Cremins was a target when Looie retired.

Seems so simple... a standing item on the game day event plan no different than knowing exact time they show anything else on scoreboard or halftime shenanigans.

We preach tradition but don’t honor it. Disappointing.

And they know what formers players and staff are attending as our ticket office handles the requests. I know 5-6 of my former basketball managers attended in addition to players and staff.

I was told that at Sunday Supper with Looie about 85 former players would be in attendance. Not only weren't they announced, by and large were not part of video tributes. I was disappointed that at the very least they weren't acknowledged by name.

It wasn't the place for that at all, but there were dozens of former players at Looie's funeral. Some traveled long distances to attend, and it occurred to me there likely may never be a gathering like that again.
