Same.

Not sure if this is the best thread to post this, but seemed the most relevant:
I used to enjoy collecting sports cards (including relic/jersey/auto cards), but the prices of these are pretty wild. If they were part of a Topps collection you could probably find most on eBay for a small fraction of what they're asking for here, and I never heard of the brand cllct. Does anyone know if some of the money goes towards NIL, and how much goes to the school? Is the purpose of these mainly to donate to St. John's?
I'm interested if it is primarily the school benefiting, but if it's mostly cllct profiting then I wouldn't be interested. Would rather just send a regular donation.
I haven't read all up on this. And Cllct is run by Darren Rovell who is one step below used car salesman. But this doesnt smell right to me. Is this going to a scholarship fund or something. Otherwise we're just profiting off a legendary man/coach who just passed away. Someone please keep me honest if I missed the hook.
Is it an enlarged pic of material or actual material? I dp now see it's saying fabric..Yeah I agree, I like the idea of more memorabilia, but this does seem off. I did a quick calculation and if they sell everything it'd be $32K plus whatever they make on the second autographed auction. The cards also don't appear to confirm that these were taken from THE sweaters that they both wore, which would be absolutely crazy if true, but without confirmation it's too much money. Generally sports cards always make it clear when relics are game worn.
Further I doubt any of this is going towards NIL, otherwise it'd be specified. I'd like to support the school's efforts on memorabilia, but think I'll pass for now.

I thought someone said Lou's original sweater is in the HOF and what's in the school lobby showcase was a replica. Didn't think the card had material but if it does I hope they are not selling this and claiming it's the original material if indeed it's in the HOF. And if replica, did they chop up what is in the lobby showcase?
I agree.. anything not original seems fraudulent if marketing ad is stating "fabric from Coach Carnesecca's famous sweater"It's definitely real material (fabric), but I'm leaning towards it not being from their actual sweaters. Maybe they recreated the fabric pattern or found the same style sweater and cut it up. Either way, if it's not from their actual game worn sweaters, then this is a scam. $400 for something incredibly misleading like this would be shameful, because at prices that high people would have to assume they're genuine game worn relics.
Hopefully my guess is wrong here, because it'd be an awful move by the school if that's the case. I can't make out all of the text at the bottom of the cards (need a passcode to enlarge), but that may clarify things.
Ed Kull’s first crisis, “Fabricgate”I agree.. anything not original seems fraudulent if marketing ad is stating "fabric from Coach Carnesecca's famous sweater"

Clict is the official collectibles partner of SJU now. They're the ones who came up with the Coming To America promotion last week and to whom I sold my original tickets. From what I was told, they are using actual sweaters not replicas. I don't know what the % breakdown is between us and Rovell but Ed Kull is a pretty smart guy. Given the new landscape of college sports and the impending House settlement (which obviously benefits the football behemoths more) the school (and Ed) is looking to generate money any way they can.I haven't read all up on this. I'm sitting here cracking up thinking about how the current landscape of NIL and the needs of our program have caused us to have to destroy and sell pieces of one of the most recognizable relics of our program's history lol.Seeing the options of the cards w/ Lou
sweater sample
$1000+ x 1= $1,000 - ??? (Auction)
$399 x 50 = $19,950
$299 x 25 = $7,475
I can't possibly see how 76 half-inch pieces would possibly ever justify destroying the most iconic thing to thus prigram
That $1K auction better net more than a $1M - otherwise it may not even pay for another Richmond level in portal for a season and be wasted.
Seems disingenuous if it's just a replica sweater being passed off, and in a way disgusts me if it is true original from Gtown game.
Zach needs to get on this !!!!!

As to Rovell, I can't comment as to his personality (since I only met him last week) but he has an amazing assortment of collectible items that he showed us a small portion of prior to the game.
I have to think it has to be one that was in lobby as you can tell that one looked crocheted with thick yarn like in the card sample. Lou's actual sweater in famous pics didn't appear to have the same look of the weaves. That's very easy to see a difference. The eBay auto / relic card does clarify at the bottom and in the description that the sweaters were worn court side by Lou and Pitino, and are the same as from the photo:
Lou Carnesecca/Rick Pitino 1/1 Autographed Sweater Relic Card | eBay
Here is your one chance to get the only dual signed Lou Carnesecca/Rick Pitino autographed sweater relic card. The card features a used Carnesecca sweater and a used Pitino sweater, worn in his game against Kansas State this year as a tribute to the coaching legend. Both the sweaters and the...www.ebay.com
It's good to have that clarification. For Pitino's it makes sense since he only wore it for the one game (the description says it's from the Kansas St game), but still confusing for Lou since that sweater is in the Hall of Fame and the auction doesn't specify where it's from. Unless if he had multiple of the same sweater? I don't know, but think I'll hold off at these prices.
