Rick’s Targets

Clayton jr, Ledlum, MM, Dingle
People can say whatever they want but of our 4 big targets we are 0-3 so far.
Need big time scorer to give us a chance to make tournament in year 1, which will help in so many regards.

Losing MM is fine that kind of recruit out of our range at the moment. We should be able to grab one of Iona, Penn, Harvard though.

If get, was a successful offseason, if not it really wasn’t at least for recruiting year 1.
Feel good about Dingle and he will be an enormous addition.

However, I also feel good about the team’s chances of making the tournament even without Dingle.

Not as good as with him obviously , but still feel good. There are also more players popping into the portal.

If someone similar fine. But still just for optics would be nice to get someone the staff seemed to really focus on.

The roster as currently constituted seems like would be deep but consists of too many role players. I think Soriano best served as number 2.

Most teams play 9. As is you have Soriano, then like 7 guys that if asked every poster on this board who is your 2nd through 7th best player would probably get 50 different answers.

Actually we have almost no role players, that’s a falsehood. We have a team full of versatile guys who can also shoot quite well, and do a lot of things. Very few if any are what would fall into the category of “role player” that I can see except maybe Conway as a “shooter” off the bench. Even Conway has a lot of other skills though so I’m not sure that would be accurate either.

I don’t look at role players as a negative thing. And I think what you said describing them, “versatile guys who can also shoot quite well, and do a lot of things”, is what you find in a lot of role players.

I do think Taylor and Luis have the ability to be top 2-3 guys on a good team, probably (with Dingle) won’t be the case next year and that’s a good thing IMO.

We have 4 iona players which gives me some pause
Actually Slazinski was a Louisville player who wanted to play for Pitino at Iona, Cruz was an Oregon stare commit I believe, and Sadiku also had multiple high major offers from sju, sju, auburn and Nebraska. These kids are not your average MAAC players. These players also brought that Iona team to the tourney, and might have advanced if they didn’t run into the eventual national champs UConn.

Role player as in not 1 or 2 option on offense. Wennington, Glass, Jackson, Moses were role players on 85 team, not saying it as derogatory term.
Basically what Mase said

Add Dingle and Zuby we got a solid squad! Mack I think pounds out jersey Sorostitutes at Kilroys for a year, then heads to NBA. Slick Rick will get the 5 star kids not worried.
I'm not sure what your issue is with women in sororities, but, as a fraternity man that has been married to a sorority woman for close to 30 years that term you have used in multiple posts is extremely offensive and I am respectfully asking you not to use it again.

How was Ledlum any bigger than Dunlap, Alleyne, Taylor, or Luis? Alleyne has an infinitely better resume.

It's a ridiculous take.

Here are the schools we've beaten out for our last three commits:
Glenn Taylor Jr. - Ohio State, Texas A&M, USC, Utah, Oklahoma State
Brady Dunlap's final 5 - St. John's, UNC, Villanova, Nebraska, Penn State
RJ Luis final 3 - St. John's, Texas A&M, Louisville.

Now it appears we're about to land one of the best players in the entire transfer portal. Dingle is better than Clayton by a mile. I'll take Luis and Taylor over Ledlum personally and love what Alleyne will bring to the table this year. Acting like Pitino is just out here whiffing is absurd.

I don’t. This roster needs an alpha scorer and second ball-handler. Dingle fills both. We don’t even have a backup PG (or center) and Jenkins is jumping a few levels.
Fair enough. I am taking into account the coaching in my equation. If that overly optimistic on my part, so be it.

Lucky, it looks as if we will not have to find out because good news is on its way.
