Rick’s Targets

Joel gives a lot of flexibility for who we play at the 4. As the roster stands now, my guess is a healthy Slazinski would get the bulk of the starts early. This will be his third year in the defense and Luis will have a lot to learn.

Alleyne definitely starts at the 3 with his shooting ability and need to have two ball-handlers alongside him.

Agree on all fronts which means our shiny new wings, Taylor and Luis, will be coming off the bench which I'm ok with.

Slazinski will also pull defenders away from the paint as he can make shots behind the arc.

Absolutely. Slazinski has a complete wing skill set. I was pleasantly surprised when I looked at his tape. I figured he was just a stretch 4 that could hit an open 3, but he can bring the ball up, run secondary breaks, pass his arse off, drive with the right matchup, and pull up. He just has that weird in between frame and doesn’t have wing quickness.

Maybe he can add 5-7 lbs of muscle over the next 6 months, because he could be a pick and pop weapon. Dribble hand off to Dingle with his long arms and step out for three if his man helps.

Post article implied may start Luis and Taylor

It's a ridiculous take.

Here are the schools we've beaten out for our last three commits:
Glenn Taylor Jr. - Ohio State, Texas A&M, USC, Utah, Oklahoma State
Brady Dunlap's final 5 - St. John's, UNC, Villanova, Nebraska, Penn State
RJ Luis final 3 - St. John's, Texas A&M, Louisville.

Now it appears we're about to land one of the best players in the entire transfer portal. Dingle is better than Clayton by a mile. I'll take Luis and Taylor over Ledlum personally and love what Alleyne will bring to the table this year. Acting like Pitino is just out here whiffing is absurd.
Its his new take to push his narrative.

We are not even going to recognize this team from the last few years. With the additional of Dingle, the talent upgrade is just massive. That is why the folks who wanted to keep posh, wusu, stanley etc were nuts. Pitino upgraded over them so easily it is beautiful. We have knockdown shooters that are going to torch the nets in NYC this year.

Pitino has been an absolute godsend. And that might be selling him short.

I would be real surprised if both these things happen

- neither Luis or Taylor start
And
- Alleyne starts at the 3

If one of the top two start at the 4 I could see it.

Wouldn't get caught up in 1,2,3,4,5. I agree with Marillac that in all likelihood we're going with a three-guard lineup of Dingle, Alleyne, Jenkins. That is a VERY experienced trio. Jenkins is starting because he knows the system. Dingle is our alpha-dog. Alleyne has 92 career starts and just won a national championship, plus will arguably be our most lethal 3-point shooter. Soriano obviously starts and then for now the nod goes to Slazinski due to familiarity with the system, especially on defense.

Believe me I’m the last guy to get caught up in 1,2,3,4,5.

I think those two guys will be extremely important to us matching up physically and athletically.

Nahiem, Jenkins, Taylor, Luis will all get mega minutes regardless of who starts. With only having 3 guards in the major minutes group, I think one comes off the bench. If not I’d imagine it’s because Rick is so high on his guard/wings that he’ll start 4 (sorry Quinn).

Fair enough. We'll agree to disagree on the starting lineup but will agree that all will be major rotation pieces. I just don't see Alleyne, who is one of our most experienced players and arguably best three point shooter fresh off a national championship not starting over someone like RJ Luis who has one-year of college ball at the mid-major level.
