If you want to get back to where we were, you gotta go up against the big boys time and again.
As Rick said at his news conference, he never asks a recruit who else is recruiting them.
They lie to each other about how much $ they received.

I’m not getting my hopes up. I’ve seen nothing in our recruiting to date that suggests we can win this battle. I’m not even sure we can outrecruit the likes of Pitt and Penn St.
My last post for a while since helping son-in-law with summer scouting, AAU etc but Id really like to say this. This program has a LOT of issues and has for a while, Both on and off the floor. It starts at the top and works its way down. The program is now in the perfect hands. There are commitments to change, I mean hard promises to systemic changes to help this program turn around. Instant gratification is fool's gold. I understand the frustration and the sense of urgency but please enjoy the process. I enjoy this board bc it's a supportive one. Be it an ill member or one who has passed you guys always rally around each other. Please continue that and these silly bickering and sarcastic jabs are useless, especially at a time when the tide is finally turning. SJU won't get every kid. The will be outbid, some kids don't want to play in the city etc......but they are in the arena for the first time in awhile. Enjoy the journey! WIshing everyone and their loved ones a peaceful loving safe and beautiful summer

We may have lost some battles for kids who were not worth the $$$ in RP's eye. Pitino playing moneyball? Clearly MM is worth the cash. Am sure he has a plan to gel his guys with stars like MM and Soriano.
I'll have what he is having!
Some folks show about as much patience as a four month old baby wailing at the top of their lungs awaiting a bottle. A new coach should be afforded an x-amount time when he arrives. Even more so for someone with Pitino's pedigree.
Lastly, how can recruitment be a disappointment (not directed at you '79) when the team has yet to play a game and the roster is in flux? I'd hate to be in a "fight or flight" situation with a few folks on here.

Agree 100%that Elite Programs have beaten us ragged for decades, head-to-head, for top kids.
Nothing's changed--yet; still scoreless in our column.
But we now have a chip we haven't had--ever: Rick Pitino, who has to be a Top 5 HC in the past 50 years.
And, we have a pot of $-Nil-$'s this year that has to be used selectively.
But, I id guess Rick may well empty the pot for a stud like MM.
Plus, it's his second visit with Rick & Staff.
That may mean nothing, but it also may mean 'something'.
It's a given, this Board is praying for the latter, lol.
