Recruits for next year?

More schools for Temple transfer Anthony Lee -- Maryland, Iowa, Butler, Ole Miss, St Johns, Providence, Seton Hall, Arizona.

This kid can literally go to any school he wants in the country it seems like, I'd love for us to nab him! Does anybody know where he is originally from? He stated in that interview that he would like for his family to be able to attend some of his games.

Originally, from Maryland, but played HS ball in Florida.

Yeah boooy! We're in his Final 50!

I didn't listen to the entire thing but he is a 4. Wants to work on his game in hopes of playing pro ball. Not concerned with scoring as much as other parts of his game. Seemed to hint that Temple's style didn't really allow him to showcase his abilities.

I'm interpreting his words to mean that he likes to rebound and play defense, and that he likes an up and down game.

Would fit nicely in Sanchez's slot and give Christian Jones the opportunity to come off the bench. I hipe we give him a call.

First you say he hinted that Temple's style didn't allow him to showcase his abilities.
Then you say he would fit in nicely in Sanchez' slot.

Sanchez didn't showcase anything this year.
Unless we bring in an Xs & Os coach, a player who graduated isn't going to waste a year here playing freestyle ball.

No offense. I'm just saying.

Like I said, I think he wants to play at a faster pace. I'm just reading between the lines. There are other theeads dealing with bashing Lavin.

Would love to have him, but the only negative is he will be one more player gone after next year. Gotta get players to develop for the future. That said ,if CO is leaving ,throw the kitchen sink at him.

If you are the parent of a high-level recruit—with everyone telling you that your superstar son is bound for the NBA-- are you now going to take a chance on Lavin?

Or are you going to look at the current crop of SJU players and worry that Lavin might screw up your son’s shot at glory?

Look at Lavin’s track record with top recruits. Sampson, whom everyone thought was headed for the draft this year —has at best maintained his skill level and arguably regressed. Obekpa—same thing. Harrison, Pointer – came in here as top prospects, going nowhere close to the NBA. Even Jordan, who was the overwhelming preseason choice for BE rookie of the year, did not accomplish that goal. Harkless, the only star recruit to get to the NBA in the Lavin era, was coached by Dunlap.

You can say it’s the player’s fault and of course, there’s merit to that argument. But I’m not so sure that parents and their advisors are going to see it that way. And for that reason, I am truly worried about the future of this program.

I hope we get Lee, but 5th year seniors look to go where they can get immediate playing time. Why would he come here and backup Sampson?

He won't have too. In a perfect world, Sampson improves his outside game and he starts at the three, a position which he will play at the nest level anyway and Lee will start at the four with Obepka at the five.

We graduate 31 mpg between the four and five...including a starter.

That's fair Marillac. I'm just saying, 5th year seniors who can play right away can usually have their pick of situations. Why be the 6th man?
Somebody somewhere needs a starting PF. I'm guessing probably some of those 30 scores who contacted him.

I think he'd be guaranteed a starting spot by Coach. 31 mpg gone and we have no rebounders that can D-up. You are right, though, that 5th year seniors have a lot of options. I hope he chooses us. I am usually against promising a kid a starting spot, but this is a kid that has NCAA experience and rebounds and plays D...plus scores the ball inside better than anyone we have. He is proven.

You are right no one really improved this year with the exception of Jordan. Obekpa looked like he was coming around but regressed at the tail end of this season. Doesn't say much for recruits since this coaching staff is extremely weak.

Why move Sampson to the 3 in order to add rebounding, toughness and defense when you can start Phil Greene as a third guard. Didn't you enjoy the excitement and success that the 3 guard offense generated? Apparently Coach did.

Last year and the first half of this one the half court offense was non existent. Jordan's presence was a big improvement but there has to a transfer or jr coll player to help in this area.
Last nights game showed that this roster is basically helpless against this defense.Don't expect any improvement from it come next year without outside help.

We do! Sampson and CO are beanpoles and we lost Sanchez and GG. We need some muscle and help off the boards.Did you not see teams with men on the court kill us off the boards?

Would not shock me if Lavin gave a scholarship to David Lipscomb. He & Delarosa brothers would not excite me. Hopefully DL remains a walk on. (Joey D as well) Adding a PF of consequence seems imperative, since Adonis is not ready for prime time. A fifth year transfer, who can score, like Mason, would also help, as Marillac has noted. Just saying...
