I too feel bad for Joel. He wanted so badly to lead his team to a memorable year but it was not to be. Watching his face yesterday, you could see that cockiness (in a good way) and confidence was gone. He looked so worried about making a mistake he looked unsure of himself, almost scared.
Sure, but where is the effort? Even if he felt lost on offense that shouldn't affect his defense and rebounding. Show some passion dude!

Didn't you watch the game last night? We DID die with Dingle and Alleyne. They both stunk up the joint in the second half. They GET OPPORTUNITIES AND THEY MISS.

stop gaslighting everyone here by acting like Jenkins is the bad guy at the end of a scooby doo episode who they rip the mask off of. I watched, with my two eyeballs, Alleyne miss multiple WIDE OPEN looks in pivotal moments in EACH of our last two games. He got two beautiful mid range looks late last night. Big possessions. He bricked. Dingle tried to hit multiple momentum altering threes in the second half. The BEST of those attempts barely grazed rim. and I mean BARELY.

Yea, Jenkins misses shots too, he has missed several big shots, and did last night as well. But he at LEAST shows a pulse in these games, and as a result is the guy that gets the shots.

Because he's the guy who hits the big midrange out of a timeout in the second half when the game was slipping away. Because HE was the guy who hit an outside shot to tie the game at 70 with a minute to go. Because HE hits those shots, HE gets to take the big shot down 3.

If any of these other frauds deserved these shots, we are all waiting for them to prove it. Luis is maybe the only other guy who was showing any semblance of shot making ability in the second half. But of course, he was 0-3 from downtown to that point, and we needed a 3
I watched the team go on a 20-5 run with Daniss Curbelo mostly on the bench and off the ball when in. Then Daniss Curbelo was on the ball the entire second half and we never saw that group again.

The ball moved and touched everyone’s hands during that first half run. It didn’t move the rest of game and we didn’t make a single three in the second half — which is almost impossible.

I'm done with Dingle. Not sure how anyone can't be at this point.
Easily. I root for and support ALL of the young men that have thankfully chosen to play for us and I would certainly never call them bums or engage in the bash fest, especially but not exclusively mid game, that goes on every losing game thread. My support extends till our last bounce of the ball in the BE tournament. Then if they return the following season, I'm in their corner again. My venom for players is strictly aimed where it should be... at our opponents. But then again, I would never yell out f*ck during the national anthem either.

I'm certainly rooting for him. But I'm done counting on him for the production we need + definitely done with advocating for him to have the ball more.

I want to live or die with Dingle and Alleyne. I can accept losing like that. I cannot accept an A-10 combo guard that can’t defend his position dictating how our season ends.

This feels like Hardy’s junior year with Norm to be. Put the goddamn ball in Dingle’s hands and let it move. Why doesn’t Soriano screen for him? Change that immediately.
Ahh! what a joke. Two players who have consistently shown how incapable they are of having any meaningful impact are the two that you are willing to accept losing with... Jenkins for how imperfect as he is, at least has the cojones to impact the game... Still waiting for Dingle to do that one game much less Alleyne!

At this point in the season you know what you are gets my with every kid mostly. The only thing you can really hope for is we have a lot of winnable games left and you hope we go on a roll and build confidence. Every guy here don’t even lie you’ve been to a bar when you were a kid and got shot down by a hottie and same night you hook up with someone else even if you don’t remember what she looked like ( Monte knows that. lol ) and you are now unstoppable on top of the world.

I’m beyond bummed but just win Sunday and let’s worry about shit
Didn’t know if I should like this or laugh at the girl reference and monte reference. Should be able to like and laugh lol.

True but it was huge schools after him I think
Also there was a very well regarded poster on this site who stated that Dingle was a difference maker, a potential pro and at another level of the rest of our recruits. I was not on this site at the time but I remember reading as such.

Yes, but he was the focus of the offense in his senior year BUT his shooting percentage was nothing to write home about.
Yeah, the shooting %s became a red flag to me in December when we all thought he was struggling but the %s were very close to what they were at Penn.

There is still a part of me that thinks he could've succeeded at other high majors, but the style + fit with Pitino was simply not right.

I think it’s hard to show any kind of intensity when you are playing scared. This poor kids whole world is falling apart, no way he wants to be in this situation especially if he feels like he’s let his teammates and coach and mostly himself down.

what do you think is wrong with him, not sure its laziness. he seems so slow moving and thinking, it is shocking compared to his past play. he even looks disinterested.
He thinks he should be dominating. And he’s not, so apathy has set in. He is not willing to fight through it. By being a sweaty try hard.

But would you say they have not improved an iota? I shared your schedule prediction, but am really taken aback by their lack of improvement under Pitino.
They have not improved. To me with the exception of the Seton Hall game they have basically been (in the macro sense) the same team all year. Some games or some stretches one player or another has stood out and another has regressed, but overall they have been very consistently who they are.

I think what that says is that Pitino has maxed out the results he can get from trying to get this group (in any combination, and he has tried just about every conceivable one) to play his way.

In my view - and it's just my opinion, and there's no way to know unless it was tried, which it hasn't been - things might have been different had he decided at some point to adapt to the tools he has to work with instead of trying to get the tools to become what he wants them to be. And it's too late for that now.

Hopefully the lesson learned is what tools he needs to acquire to do what he wants to do. There is obviously a track record that his approach can win a lot of games. I don't think he's going to change gears, so what's left is to see if he can get players who fit his system profile and can then get them to execute. I wouldn't bet against him, but I don't think any reasonable observer can say there's no cause for concern, either.

Even I think that "Daniss Curbelo" is an overstatement. Hilarious, grain of truth, but an overstatement.
