I like Alleyne…he has made some big shots but has not proven to be a go to guy (and dont think he was expected to be)…I would classify him as a decent-to-good defender but he is no Justin Simon or Rasheem Dunn (the 2 best on ball defenders we have had in a very long time). Alleye is good bench player but just hasn’t done enough to break thru as someone who should be a starter. It wasn't an Alleyne-specific post.
IMHO Alleyne is exactly who he has always been - very good defender, unselfish with the ball, will grab some rebounds, wildly inconsistent offensively.
The thing with him has always been that there is no rhyme or reason to why he hits or misses. Some guys you can figure it out - they miss when their feet aren't set or they rush the shot or whatever their particular thing is. With Alleyne his makes and misses are not form or situation dependent, they're just random. And he's always been that way.
So basically - my comment had absolutely nothing to do with Alleyne, he is the same inconsistent scorer he has been at his two prior stops. Great kid, good defender, cannot be depended on for offense. When it shows up great, but you can't assume it will at any given time.
[Edit: s/o to Hardy who (after I posted) I see had already posted statistical proof of my observation.]
It's not changing now but perhaps part of the overall problem is that he never squares up to the basket when shooting his jumper. He always has one foot in front of the other. It wasn't an Alleyne-specific post.

I hadn’t noticed that about Alleyne until you and CA referred to it .Have noticed that too and agree it may account for his consistent inconsistency. You'd think somebody would have identified and coached that out of his game at one of his 3 high-major stops, may just not be fixable.
He's one of those guys (and we've had plenty like him in the past) who's more valuable on a championship-caliber team (like UCONN last year), as sort of a do-it-all reserve. He can come and spark you in short spurts. He's a good defensive player, and a good passer, but probably shouldn't be playing more than half the game. On our team, we need more, and his lack of scoring doesn't help.I like Alleyne…he has made some big shots but has not proven to be a go to guy (and dont think he was expected to be)…I would classify him as a decent-to-good defender but he is no Justin Simon or Rasheem Dunn (the 2 best on ball defenders we have had in a very long time). No. I noticed it right away pre ankle injury.I hadn’t noticed that about Alleyne until you and CA referred to it .
I , and a few other guys have commented that Alleyne appears to be still hobbled by his Ankle injury . Even though he’s playing .
I don’t know if that has been a flaw of his previously but , it’s possible the last few games that the Ankle is still bothering him . And , that might be why the footwork is off .
Like I said , I’m only speculating as to why his shooting and defense have been less than his norm .
