Iona had an A-10 roster and beat every MAAC team too The MAAC is objectively the weaker league in the every single conference ranking for decades. It’s not even debatable.Iona beat both , Princeton and Penn last season . Less Competitive ?

All true . Plus Dingle shot the ball a lot for Penn. Shot 9-25 against Princeton I thinkIn the Ivy League he was playing against smaller-slower- non scholarship players.
No he had prior obligations.has Frank waved the white flag?
But , we are talking about Iona last year . Coached by Pitino and Jenkins being the team’s second leading scorer .Iona had an A-10 roster and beat every MAAC team too The MAAC is objectively the weaker league in the every single conference ranking for decades. It’s not even debatable.
It's mid February and only one guy can confidently say they are starting the game and will be in at the start and end. Hard to build confidence, hard to know your role, hard for the staff to have a plan this way. Now that falls on both parties, players haven't played well enough to give coaches that comfort, while at the same time guys like Wilcher, Dunlap, Conway, Alleyne have not really been able to play through hiccups to develop any confidence. It's very hard to be a coach and very hard to push those buttons correctly, and doing it on the fly. I just think a lot of the frustration with all this is magnified when you lose 7 of 9 as well.Great podcast Dave. You didn’t sugarcoat anything and said then things that needed to be said. You hit on something that has been my biggest concern throughout the season….. not only a ever changing line up but when kids go form starting to not seeing the court, how are they ever going to gain a sense of confidence? No one plays well all of the time but there has to be some degree of consistency in play time if you are going to get the most out of players. Hopefully when Rick upgrades his roster next season that will happen.
Dingle shot 46.4% last year with insane volumeAll true . Plus Dingle shot the ball a lot for Penn. Shot 9-25 against Princeton I think
Most of his games , he was shooting in the mid to high double digits . Never with real good percentage . Not a good 3 point shooter either .
It’s easy to score if you shoot enough . In the fabric of this team , he’s had more than ample opportunity to score at a level expected . He’s failed . Regrettably .
And , it doesn’t appear he and Rick are on the same page . Defensively he’s been awful , which Rick doesn’t tolerate .
I really do think Taylor's confidence is completely shot. He looks like a much different player, for the worse, now than he did in November/December when he was an energized defender & took the ball to the basket. It's mid February and only one guy can confidently say they are starting the game and will be in at the start and end. That’s putting the ball up a great deal to score those numbers . He like David Jones , shoots too much , gets his points but , doesn’t get assists ,Dingle shot 46.4% last year with insane volume
Dingle scored 25 against Villanova on 15 shots. He scored 18 against Missouri on 14 shots. He scored 37 against A-10 Lasalle on 22 shots. Now he can’t score.
You are always mentioning players taking too many shots. Different players have different roles and scorers take shots. This isn’t biddy basketballThat’s putting the ball up a great deal to score those numbers . He like David Jones , shoots too much , gets his points but , doesn’t get assists ,
Give it up man , Dingle has been a big disappointment . And ,,Jenkins has nothing to do with Dingle being a BE Role player .
If you watch the games , instead of trashing Jenkins , you would see that Dingle has had many chances to perform well and hasn’t. You don’t mention he is a disaster on defense .
You make us think Dingle would be BE player of the year . Not even close
Crimson , so you are saying that Dingle is a Scorer in the BE ? And , it’s only in the context of Jones and Dingle that are scorers and have free reign? You are always mentioning players taking too many shots. Different players have different roles and scorers take shots. This isn’t biddy basketball
Slyfoxx would bench Iverson if he was coaching him.You are always mentioning players taking too many shots. Different players have different roles and scorers take shots. This isn’t biddy basketball
Yes Dingle can’t score. Maybe it’s the shoulder injury. But he has been a huge disappointment. Pitino encouraged him to take 25 threes. Told him to shoot more. But he can’t and won’t. He is an enigma. No one who follows basketball and saw his game last year would have predicted him to play and shoot so badly. He wanted to go pro last year. Right now he could not make some recreational league teams. Head case like Soriano? Pressure of NYC spot light ? I have no idea. I keep hoping he says screw it and just goes out and does it. But I have been thinking that since Charleston when I met his Dad, a true gentleman. This season has been a disaster for his pro hopes. But there is time for him to reclaim it. Let us pray.Dingle shot 46.4% last year with insane volume

This is a great post.Crimson , so you are saying that Dingle is a Scorer in the BE ? And , it’s only in the context of Jones and Dingle that are scorers and have free reign?
If you recall , the consensus of this Board was that Jones was a ball hogging , hoop chucking player. No question he can shoot but , it’s a team game . Jones has continued that at Memphis and Hardaway is ok with it , I think .
It wouldn’t be here with Pitino.
As for Dingle here , he has had ample chances and put up enough shots for us to see , he is not a BE scorer . He’s been in double digits often this year with number of shots with not much return .,
I guess his Coach at Penn was ok with him shooting so much . Sure he averaged 23 a game but , if you have to put it up 25 times to do it , is that Team BB.?
Jenkins has never put it up 25 times here but , another poster wants to sell the idea that Jenkins is the ruination of this years team .
Nothing could be further from reality .
Shaka Smart was quoted as saying “ Daniss Jenkins is one of the best Guards in the Country and will continue to play at the next level .”
You could say that’s Coach speak but , is it really ?
Marquette was determined to stop Jenkins and that didn’t happen . Despite their best efforts .
That other poster wants to sell the falsehood that Dingle is a better. shooting option than Jenkins . That doesn’t fly . Sometimes stats aren’t the full story .

My friend - you've lost it. Why would any St. John's fan give a flying f*ck what FG % our recent transfers shot last year? Jenkins is shooting a better percentage than Dingle from 3, from 2 and at the line including 38% to 24% on in conference 3's. I would say your grasping at straws but perhaps cocktail stirrers is more apropos. Stick to my favorite argument of yours that Jenkins is to blame for Dingle's, and others, misses. Of course, that too is ridiculous and absurd, but at least it's comical.Still had higher FG % than Jenkins did in the less competitive MAAC.
Haha my one question I need Marillac to answer, how many more wide open shots does Alleyne need to miss for us before we can officially retire the Alleyne Virginia Tech shooting numbers from these conversationsMy friend - you've lost it.
