(POST-GAME) @Marquette, Tues. Feb. 5, 8pm, FS1 / 570AM

"It's a must win because of the following 3 games.
If they go 2-2 that would be good.

Survived these 4 games, didn't liook promising after G-Town.
They did it though.

I gotta be honest oldschool and I mean this in the nicest way possible, I sure am glad you can stop regurgitating this post now
Such a huge win the difference between 5-5 and 4-6 is huge! Now if we take care of business the next two at home instead of just getting to 6-6 we will be 7-5 and maybe start to distance ourselves from the rest of the pack!
Gotta win the next 2 at home: Beat PC at MSG, and payback vs Butler

Great win! Gut check game.

We did not win this game by bombing threes.
We did not win this game by cashing in turnovers.

We won this game with heart and dedication.
We won this game 5 vs 8.
We won this game with the best commitment to defense that we've seen all year.
The off the ball spacing and fighting through screens and cuts to stay on Howard was the best I've seen all year...by a big margin.

This game, this win, was earned! Congratulations to the team and staff on leaving the gas tank on absolute empty after a 3 game, 8 day road trip. Get some rest and recovery and hope the fans show up on Saturday to the give the team a well deserved Welcome Home!

Where is the negativity in that post? Only you who walks around with a Black cloud over their head would read it that way. Guess it hit close to home.

Our guys deserve a Gtown sized crowd saturday at MSG. What else is there to do at 12pm

Shocking part is that we usually are on the short end of an outcome like this.

The negativity is in focusing on criticizing your fellow SJ fans instead of just celebrating a huge top 10 road win. If you think the games are never in doubt you are simply lying. A poster on a sports forum jumped the gun and said the game was over when in fact many of us thought the same. Why browbeat a fellow SJ fan? Let it go and let's celebrate the huge road win against a top 10 team. We just swept Marquette, got firmly in the tourney, and are set up very nicely for the home stretch. I'll gladly eat crow for doubting Keita...he really does look more comfortable. Not much offensive skill but getting better on D. Simon had his best game this season and I've been hard on him so add more crow to that. Great win in a game that was running away from us quickly in the closing minutes! Rafferty onions! By the way, anyone notice the ridiculous Marquette flop on the Ponds drive to take the lead at the end?

Funny, been thinking ‘ahead’ (because I expected this win—but not by a point! ). Lol.
Thinking that it’s hard to beat a team 3 times in a season—but we’lol be ‘home’ and will do it.
Well figuring Marquette finishes second and hoping we can finish third which would set up a third match up. Guess we could hope Marq gets upset in quarters but would probably help our NCAA seeding to beat Marq again. I know I'm getting ahead of things with this as I am not one to take any game for granted just random thoughts. Besides it is the team that has to take games one at a time.
Yes Bama, we’ve got to take care of business one game at a time.
And this game gives us a huge ‘lift’. Got to keep it going.
I think Marillac is correct in stating we would not have won this game if we had beaten Duke.
We would’ve cruised into Milwaukee on hot air and crashed landed!
I know ‘us’.
All losses suck, but but being blown out by Duke may have—by necessity—focused us back to business in the conference and saved our season.

I've come to the realization that the best thing about making the Big Dance will be getting away from these crap Big East refs.
Marquette slot 17 / 25 from the line.
Stats were very close all around as was the game and I know there were other factors but you can almost say we won the game at the foul line by shooting a higher percentage than Marq 82 to 68%. 13-16 led by Ponds great FT shooting. Cannot overestimate the importance of hitting a good percentage of your FTs as unsexy as that may seem especially to today's players.

And, one of our three misses was intentional, so that one doesn't really count, IMO.

We put the right guys on the line, too. John and Anim are both under 60% free throw shooters, and they were a combined 6/13 on the night, with many of their misses not even being close. In fact, at one point in the second half, it looked like we fouled Anim intentionally, in order to avoid letting Howard take a wide open 3. It worked too, because he missed the front end of the 1-and-1.
