Porter Moser

Well, I am disappointed. I am in the minority here, but I thought Moser would have been a good hire. I think he would have installed an identifiable system and culture. He is a basketball junkie who, as a head coach, would have had his fingerprint on X's and O's as well as recruiting.

Many described Moser as underwhelming. I think that s how I am feeling about Cluess. There's no doubt he is a solid, and very successful, head coach. That said, he does give his players a lot of freedom on offense (something I've grown to loath) and his teams' defensive inadequacies are well documented.

I will certainly get behind Cluess, but......ho-hum.

Le Cirque de Sainte Jean. Oliva rocks!

As certain as certain can be, wrote a letter to Loyola community and drank champagne Oliva gave him

I personally think he is finding along with all of us, that he doesn't have the free hand to make the hire of his choice. He is finding his biggest job is not finding a qualified coach. He finds himself in the middle of the politics of SJU.
Oliva is the real director of this ongoing tragedy.
A lot more than finding a coach is at stake. If Oliva wins, I would say kiss the Big East goodbye and realize we are going down to the level that Oliva has brought us to. If Cragg wins and is allowed to be what he was hired to be, then we have a chance. Maybe it will take longer than we like but I think he will build a winner.
Not with the retards in charge.
Is Oliva related to Jeff Wilpon

Nope. Related to Woody Johnson. Or maybe Jim Dolan.

My mailman said he has a 2nd interview tomorrow

Sometimes in CYO if a school can't get a coach for say 3rd grade soccer they will send out blasts trying to guilt people to do it. Sort of like if no one coaches these poor 3rd graders won't have a team. Maybe ST John's should try this approach.

Not surprising. As I said earlier is this thread, makes no sense for him to uproot his family and leave his home state for this. Lots of pressure and no guarantee that he won’t have to be uprooting them again in 4 or 5 years. I could see him leaving for Illini job or something like that, but I don’t see him venturing very far off from his roots.
