Porter Moser
We are on the precipice of battling DePaul for most insignificant in the conference for the next several years
Something Pitino hiring would certainly avoid.

SJU executive decision making process is safely not state of the art, evoking memories of Kodak losing its prominence because of disastrous senior management choices.

Rick Pitino the compromise candidate.

It Moser is hired, Cragg should resign immediately. He’s too good for this nonsense here. What an absolute joke.

I do not think Porter would be an epic disaster. That is a bit strong. He has proven some ability to coach. However, I don't think you can take him over Cluess.

I started the day disappointed about Moser but, after reading some more, I actually prefer him to Cluess.

That said, if Zags' report is accurate and Oliva is inserting himself in the hiring decision, then this school has learned nothing.

What about Moser would lead someone to believe he can build a long term winner here when he hasn’t anywhere else?
I'll ask the same about TIM.
WHAT HAS HE DONE BESIDES BESIDES DOMINATE THE MAAC.

Please can someone tell me, what has he done?
Did he ever succeed in a major conf?
And, if he's all great, why hasn't another power conf school grab him?

I would love to understand this love fest with Tim?
This is easy.
Cluess has won 7 out of every 10 games he’s coached.
Moser has won 5 of 10.
Next?
And that's all you got for Tim? Coaching in the MAAC.
Doesn't Moser coach in a much tougher conf.
That's weak Maiin.

Switch the 2 and it's the opposit.
Tim rules for dominating a garbage conf, lmfao. Comical.

A note from a Sports Illustrated article after last season:
...it’s clear he is held in high regard in the business because he built the Loyola-Chicago program and because his teams win using a formula (excellent offensive spacing and disciplined defense) that can be replicated on any level with the right roster. The fact that Moser assembled this team from the ground up is especially attractive.
Is Ryan Odom a consideration? If not, why? I like him more than Poser for sure
Joe Oliva does not care for him. :)

Couple things:

1) What is NM in the context of it gets posted on this board a lot and 'the computer' is hard for me.

2) It seems like we have decided we don't wan't to spend on a coach. I'm not happy with that, but it really makes things easy. Either you go for a young HC/top AC, hire Moser, or tell Cluess listen you can have 5 years at STJ at the same salary your making now and we will buy you out.
If this is the case my preference is 1) unnamed young guy 2) Moser 3) Cluess at a home town discount. I don't love any of these options.
3) I was really kinda meh about Moser but when I saw Zag didn't like him, I knew he had a chance to succeed. Zag is a harbinger of failure.

I saw them eating at the Blue Bay Diner tonight and heard Oliva say "separate checks please" and Cragg said to St. Jean "it's a special night you don't have to order from the kids menu"
Why did we hire Cragg?
I'm for Moser over Cluess, but I gotta agree there.
If Joe knows best then should have been AD

He was
And was a disaster

Nevermind.

Haha!

how is moser better than Cluess? 10 years younger, big deal. 141-125 record compared to Cluess at 199-108. Cluess is a NEW YORK GUY!!!! Went to St Johns!!!!! His family went to St Johns!!!! Local ties to coaches and programs. He paid his dues and is a winner! He will bring stability and COACHING to this mush lacking program. WHAT THE HELL ARE WE DOING?????? Bite the bullet and sign this guy already so he can start to recruit. All these talking heads trying to convince Cragg otherwise and sabotaging the program and making us look like fools!

This isn't saying he'll be successful if he comes on board, but I loves me some defense. His teams were top-notch at doing so lately.
