Neither Lawrence or Jordan have us as their #1 school and two losing seasons in a row may be too much for Lavin's enormous ego to take.
Wow, you have inside info or just make it up as you go along.
you don't need "inside information" to follow today's recruits that use Twitter to tell you their every bowel movement or sources that tell you where they are leaning. If you do not think I want Lav to snag these two you are nuts!
I do not believe everything players and their handlers release because I know they use it as leverage with the recruiting schools.
Jordan: "Temple is "home" to me". After Temple beat Syracuse, his opinion did not decrease.
Lawrence? Three years at Cardozo and it's history of not sending players down to Union Turnpike (any guesses) and having been on campus more than any recruit in recent memory, without ever indicating we "lead" does not take Sherlock Holmes. That he left Cardozo was actuallly a position in our favor.
If I wanted to make stuff up, I would publish on BEB with the ying and yang team. If I wanted to make stuff up I would publish under my other screen name on JJ and join ranks with Marco Baldi.
I am using negativity to keep me grounded in our reality.
Unlike others, I want to be surprised with success, both this year and next.
No need to use negativity to psyche out yourself. Reality are facts, and death and taxes. Until the season is over and the dust has settled, then we're not sure what this season will have in store. There is a strong, likelihood that we continue to play with inconsistency, but it isn't reality.
Like I stated several days ago.... I spoke with someone who has access to Jordan's situation, and Temple wasn't in the lead, as you seem to believe. Things can change, as they tend to do, with these kids. As, of last week that wasn't the case.
I can't speak on Lawrence's situation. I don't know who's the perceived leader for him. I know a few months ago that his mom was fond of the staff.
Once again, it doesn't matter who's leading (although, we all like to hear our team is leading the pack for a recruit) until they commit, and ultimately, sign their name on the dotted line.
MJ, I agree it does not matter who is the perceived leader until a prospect actually signs an LOI. However, when you only have two kids you are pursuing with any intensity and the kids are waiting for the Spring signing period, it means there is no clear leader and that is what I based my opinion on......the majority of kids commit by the Fall because they know their preference and want to focus on school and becoming eligible. There are very few "blanks" left next to the top 50 players regarding their school of chioce as of today.
The best case scenario will be we do not lose Sampson and Harrison AND sign Lawrence and Jordan. The nightmare begins if we lose the two and not sign the 2 prospects. Then we are left with sleepers and mystery recruits. Sound familiar?
We're amongst a small group of schools in the race for two blue-chippers. That is all you can ask for at the moment. There is always the possibility we can lose out on one, if not both of these kids. You can't lose out on either one of 'em, if you're not in it. The reality is we are amongst the leaders for Jordan (if not the actual leader) and Lawrence, respectively.
True, but when we hired Lavin some of us felt his recruiting skill would lead to one or two five star possibilities. While we show disdain for all things Syracuse, they continue to stock with that level player and still take common recruits at will. They are our major competitor, along with Uconn, for area recruits. Even the prospect of less playing time at Uconn for a Kenton Facey did not sway him in our direction.
If Harrison bolts, even with Jordan signing, we are back to having an unproven frosh to play major minutes and that frosh is only ranked # 66 of the handful of remaining available recruits in the nation. No if, ands, or buts, Lawrence is a must get...period!
Lavin is involved with a small handful of sub-90 rated 2014 players but certainly none in the top 25 as yet.
In year three we are nowhere near the level of players Lavin recruited and signed while at UCLA and miles and miles away from our major NY competitor, Syracuse.
Bottom line is we need players to stay 3-4 years and with the Big East imploding weekly and our future murky, there are no longer guarantees of returning to the elite level of the 80's and without that possibility or at least hope thereof, our future at MSG, our biggest recruiting ace in the hole, will be in question.
Regardless of what others think about him, our lack of an offer to Calipari a few years ago when he was at Memphis may have been the turning point in the level of recruit we could attract.
At that stage, Cal was a millionaire many times over and wanted the challenge of SJ and NYC.
Hey, water under the bridge, no?
Get the players, get them early, lock-em up early and teach them defense.......an old Boeheim strategy that has worked for him to this day.
Get to work staff. LOL!!
