Orlando Sanchez

Dang. Logged in, saw 11 new posts in the "SANCHEZ INFO" thread, and foolishly thought there was some info on Sanchez. Oh well....

CR, you're not the only foolish thinker out there.

At today's press conference , Lav mentioned him redshirting the season.
That's as good a sign as can be seen.

Redshirting who? Gift or Sanchez?

Gift.

I talked to Gift prior to the Holy Cross game and he is not happy about being red shirted.

He openly told you that he isn't happy?

Yes, I asked him if he is happy with being red shirted- and he said No- he wants to play.

Thank you for verifying.

I thought it was comical that people would think Gift is just happy sitting there on the bench looking on as we get outrebounded by inferior teams. Of course him getting a Master's degree is great. But anyone in their right mind would be crazy to think that he doesn't care about being out there.

What did you expect him to say? There is no news here. Of course you want to play, and you may not be "happy" about it, but you might still understand the circumstances. Happiness and understanding are not mutually exclusive. Fact of the matter is, Orlando is a bigger deal than he is and we have to wait and see what happens with him first.

do you honestly believe that anyone is happy to be a healthy redshirt as a senior?

In your logic then nobody should be happy redshirting. What makes a difference what year he is.

Does anyone not think he can improve and possibly increase his chances of where he plays for pay once he leaves STJ?

I think Gift's ultimate accomplishment would be to get a deal playing international ball. I don't think he's as bad as people here make him out to be. He is just doesn't have a back to the basket game and he has poor hands. But I think his speed, freakish athleticism and average rebounding could get him an overseas contract.

I saw a guy like Yancy Gates who had a more well-rounded offensive game as a Senior, completely suck at the NBA Draft Combine. Well Yancy got a guaranteed deal from some Lithuanian team. Gift shouldn't be doubted.

For all the bad games he had during Big East play last year, I believe he put up 21 & 10 on the road against Kentucky. A lineup that all went pro. Take it as you may.

And if he wants a Master's Degree, I'm sure a student-athlete like him who was honored into the President's Society at SJU could secure paid tuition by most companies if he decides to skip pro ball and join the regular working force. That whole Master's degree argument was reaching for straws. I highly doubt Gift couldn't get it covered wherever he goes.

I don't think its an argument as opposed to just an added benefit. I don't think anyone would use that reason if it was any other player on the team besides Gift and Max

They'd just say Max is rich. Why should he care! :)
And Amir has a $1M contract from the Reds (for the umpteenth time). Wy should he care!

Gift being from Nigeria was somehow brought into the discussion. I just laugh.

Consider the source on that last point ;)

I'm sorry guys, it just hit me. Nigeria is in the first world too. What was I thinking implying he has a much better life in America? Some of you on here travel a lot...why not try Nigeria? I hear it's no different than America just a little hotter.

I'm with you

11 new posts shouldn't faze anyone with Joe3 around ;)

Sorry, maybe I won't post anymore.

Dude you confuse the living hell out of me. You talk about people here being stuck up and too rigid. And I make that statement with a damn winky smiley face. Lighten up!

joe3 could start his own thread and make all the comments. LOLhttp://redmen.com/1x/components/com_kunena/template/ja_social/images/emoticons/unsure.png

I'm just waiting for some actual news on the Sanchez front... Any chance we get him for the SC game or is that wishful thinking?
