Orlando Sanchez

His numbers are identical to Brownlee.

Brownlee had better teammates at Chipola JC.

You do realize that Monroe is Top 5 JUCO team? Just like I'm sure Chipola was that year. Both played on loaded teams and didn't need to be 'the man'.

Flowers and JB did well. Casey Mitchell had moments his Sr yr but was more of a headcase and Kreft sucked.

Lastly JUCO Junction has gone down the toilet. Their rankings last year were putrid and they haven't updated anything this year in terms of rankings.

Brownlee´s teammates were to Southern Mississippi, West Virginia, Mississippi or Florida State.
Sanchez´s teammates will go to Liberty and North Carolina Central. And we outrecruited Louisiana Tech for Bourgault.

Brownlee had better teammates.

So what point are you trying to make Gonzalo? Just showed you that Kreft was over his head at FSU. Mitchell needed a year to adjust like JB and flowers was the centerpiece from Day 1. Good for him.

So are you saying that Sanchez is going to suck? Be worse than Brownlee? This fan base puzzles me. We need a shooter we need a shooter, we get a kid and they complain the competition we beat for Marco. Nobody can win with this fan base. Its amazing.

1 ball, 5 players, 200 minutes. Only so many studs you can have. Do you want a Top 50 player dispensing water on the end of the bench too? :side:

Very valid point Moose.
But to answer your question - no, of course not. I would however like a top 10 or top 20 player (or 2). We're in new territory with Lavin's recruiting classes - but those kind of impact players are the next step. Maybe Lawrence or Mccullough will be those guys.

Of course.
And 13 and 14 are perfect classes for that. And I can't wait!
12 class was needed to fill holes and actually get a serviceable team.

Why the talk about 5 rebs? Thought in both juco years he avg something like 8-10 boards? Anyway in the 2 games I saw on the net in juco playoffs I loved this kids game.

Correct
8.5 first year and 7.97 this yr.
He averaged 5 boards for the DR national team he was on

He averaged over 11 boards as a frosh and he averaged 2.1 boards for the DR--which is incredible because the 3/4 guys ahead of him on the depth chart are in the NBA and the fourth might be the best player on the team. At Monroe, Ndour really cut into his #'s, but that is common for two high D-1 caliber kids sharing the court at a JUCO. He had to do it all himself as a frosh and his #'s wre insane...4.3 blocks per game!

Orlando will not have a problem getting rebounds or blocks at STJ.

My bad. The 8.5 I had was during the JUCO Tournament.

Not sure where I got the DR numbers but I thought I saw 5 last night. But like you said team was All Star team and if everyone recalls the videos he was playing the 3 primarily.

As a side note, I watched some of the Monroe footage on YouTube last night. Bourgault will be a lot better for us than just an afterthought. He's a really solid ball handler and plays a smart and controlled game. Stroke is really pure from the outside and he's not a poor athlete at all. He'll fit into our offense well and I think will see some time here, especially when we need offensive production. Very controlled player. Great stroke

BTW-Brad Winton of Jucorecruiting.com, who does probably the most comrpehensive JUCO recruiting anaylsis, has Orlando as his no. 4 JUCO player in the country!!!!

Winton waits until late spring just to make sure he has done all of his homework and seen all of the players before he gives his final ranking.

http://www.jucorecruiting.com/?page_id=434

FWIW-Orlando is ranked no. 21 by JUCO JUNCTION.

He's got Sulivan's Cleanthony Early too high at #2 overall and Wiggins too low--both Wichita State commits. Where's Cleanthony Early's Sullivan and Lauringburg Prep teammate and Monroe-Woodbury alum, Marvin Jean! He's headed to play for my boy at Utah State.

Maybe he can introduce you to your other boy Butterfield who is going to Utah State.

Stu is the best JUCO recruiter out there. The guy knows how to spot talent...too bad it's hard to get anyone to Utah State.

Weird it wasn't working the other day.
Even weirder is how Orlando is 4 stars and 21 but meanwhile there are 3 star and no star players ranked ahead.

I trust Brad more.

I don't think I've ever heard of the No. 2 guy, but he played high school ball in NY. Looks like he might originally be from Marillac's neck of the woods.

Edit: Scratch this post. I had page open for a while before responding and looks like other posts were made in the meantime.

Orlando a very underrated player. 6'9 kid who has speed of a 6'4" guy in the open court. Really an amazing passer for his size and does just about everything else well. This staff will really hone him and get the most out of him. The only reason he doesn't score more is that he doesn't look for it from what I've seen, I like this kid a lot. He'll have some big games and be consistent throughout. Can guard guys that are smaller with his lateral quickness.

Very happy to also see Marco Bourgault come in at number 49 and remember he sat out a year following surgery.
He too appears to be a very underrated part of our very good class.
