Orlando Sanchez

Sanchez stats:

9.8 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.9 bpg, .55 fgp, .59 ftp.

Anyone recall gift's stats in JC?

That's misleading TIS...GG had 459 FGA while Orlando had 281... GG was the "man" at Erie CC, while Monroe had a more balanced attack. Pound for pound I think we will see that Orlando is the better player. Orlando had twice as man assists as GG did. Don't get me wrong, I like GG, however Orlando is the more polished of the two no matter how many points GG averaged in JC...and correct me if I'm wrong but GG played in Division II of JC while Sanchez put up his numbers in the tougher Div I

Exactly. I saw Monroe play twice in person this year. They had a well balanced offense and it certainly didn't flow through Sanchez consistently. They had really quick guard play which they leaned on offensively and thats why you don't see impressive scoring or assist #s (even though I truly believe Orlando's passing is his strongest attribute).

This was posted several days ago.

Orlando Sanchez has committed and #stjbb will get his NLI this weekend, per source, which confirms @AdamZagoria report #boyshoops

He said, Orlando, that he signed his LOI. Sampson said that he also signed it. Both as per Zags blog.

HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN. WHAT A WEEKEND !

Sanchez will be a nice contributor off the bench. He is not a special player just a small piece that is needed. Some people act as though he is the next Walter Berry.

must you always be so negative even when stuff is positive?? So flippin annoying

Funny auburn site says Sanchez is not committed. He's very much committed. Even Max Hooper confirmed that he was there this weekend when Sanchez committed.

my friend, who's assistant athletic director at monroe, says sanchez is not committed. he says it doesn't mean he won't commit...but it's not in the bank yet.

You mean not signed LOI, but he certainly verbally committed this weekend from all reports, even Hooper's.

no...i mean undecided. am told lavin was blowing smoke to sny to "pressure" sanchez. zagoria rips off other threads, including this and johnny jungle for much of its "news". it's not a done deal.

The commit is a done deal.. That is 100% correct and i just had to comment on the " info" you got.. Never in the history of recruiting has a fake out announcement by a coach happened to pressure a kid to actually do it.. Never that is the most absurd thing i have ever heard. He has not signed his letter yet and things do change.. but he has verballed to St john's :)

Bingo. newsman's assertion that Zags "rips off" this stuff makes zero sense. He was the first to report it, what did he do rip off himself? He was also the first to report the trips to ProVidence, Auburn and SJU. How in the hell did he get that info?

And as Happy clearly states no program, save Booby Gonzalez, reports a commit that did not happen just to pressure a kid into doing it, that is even dumber then your earlier comment.

First it was Robbin's inventing a back page story that Norm was set to be fired, then Lenny invented a story that Harkless had decided to turn pro before he officially announced, and now Zags rips off this board on a verbal that he first reported on. It is good thing no one is under oath on these message boards.

some of you ladies are a bit sensitive.

number one, you all know how i feel about this staff. i have my fingers crossed that sanchez chooses us.

two...the quote from the assistant coach on the two signing with us was an answer to a question. he had no idea one way or another that either had signed when he was asked. so when a reporter asks "what do you think about..." it's a response to a possible unknown.

re: zags. of course, zags has plenty of inside info. he lives, breathes and sh..ts college hoops and he does his job well. he got the sanchez story from sny. he gets stories from redmen.com and johnny jungle. that's what bloggers do. you're making it sound as if he'd be completely lost if not for these sites. i never wrote that.

as far as norm's firing or mo's going pro...find it...or be glad you're not under oath.

three...sanchez spoke to my source YESTERDAY...and told him it's not a done deal.

now lets all hold hands and sing kum by yah...and hope sanchez sees where he has the best chance to make money post college ball.

Can Happy and I remove our Drag Queen outfits to reaffirm this was a done deal?????

Who's blowing smoke now? I'm sure those on the Auburn site would welcome a few more dillusional fans who still believe that Sanchez is uncommitted.

He's better than a contributor off the bench. You're not close on this one.

I have to agree with Ted here. He's an imporant piece to the puzzle, but I don't think he'll be anything close to a star. I'm hoping for Brownlee-like contributions in his minutes with the versatility to play big on defense.

He's better than a small contributor off the bench. And, wasn't Brownlee pretty good for us? He's also going to be surrounded by some really good talent and will benefit from that and the system we play. I think you may be short changing his impact. Maybe not a star (we'll see), but should be a solid player for us.

Brownlee certainly wasn't a small piece though

As I believe I said on another thread, if he's Brownlee, I'll be real happy.

Absolutely! Brownlee was in the "conversation" at draft time (albeit as a late consideration). By no means a "piece". If Sanchez is of the Brownlee ilk, we will be fine.

Every thing I read about Sanchez points to him being a very good player. Not a superstar but a BE calibre player.  I also read that he is 6 83/4" so he has nice height.

my source talks to zagoria all the time. when zagoria said sanchez was coming, he quoted sny. look at what i wrote. it's accurate. just because someone verbals or leans towards us doesn't mean they've signed a loi. but you know that if you've been following this team for the past two years.
