Obekpa and weed

@JonRothstein: Chris Obekpa will return to St. John's next season, source told @CBSSports. Huge boost for Chris Mullin and the Red Storm. #SJUBB

Braziller confirms obekpa is staying. Let's take the "and weed" off this one

My son went to a strict Catholic HS that once was 100% ROTC. They have strict rules. But once you've done something and you are disciplined, it's forgotten. Monte can verify this.

Jack is right. Wipe the slate for Obekpa. If he's coming back we don't have to continually remind each other of every transgression he committed in the past. Mullin's taking him back, and that's good enough for me. Let's play ball.

If coach wants him back then I'm ok with it but don't waste your freaking opportunity Obekpa because you've let your teammates down more than once.

Work your ass of this summer and make something of your senior year so we can cheer for you

One week of Jug and CO will be better than ever ;)

How generous of CO to take a chance on Coach Mullin so that we, the fans, may bear witness to his incredible play, unwavering sportsmanship and above all a humility not seen since Lapchick graced the same court.

Glad that he is back, blocking prowess and all... but he needs to work on other skills over the summer and needs "big man" help. Work on putbacks and a signature move to the rim. Draw fouls and get that FT% up from .519

For reasons unknown (or maybe known) he tailed off in the last several games. This guy is a Senior now and needs to be a leader for the entire season. He should be thinking double-double every game.

I think he has a lot of upside and hopefully Coach Mullin can get him focused.

Clearly I'm in the minority here, but given the choice, I don't really want this kid back. After his sophomore year he quit the team and we all know what he did during the end of his junior year. Why give him a third chance?

I was hoping to turn the corner CO as I never found him to be that impactful of a player anyway.

On another note...please come back RYSHEED!

Nice wit and charm "my" Main Man
Yes I'm sure Chris is pleading for a CO return, losing sleep over the young man - I do wish CO the best but if it's not here it seems you agree...
Thanks!

all the best

Yes CO needs to work on his skills - including attitude and maturity - which might come with two ingredients: his decision and effort + Chris' guidance
Thanks!

all the best

Let's be honest about Obekpa coming back. So far, the guy has mostly been a stooge. Could you imagine our reaction to him if he was Christian Jones or Myles Stewart, or a similar talent, who smashed an elbow into a guys head, refused to go into a game at a critical juncture, or whose suspension left the team so short handed they had no chance to win an NCAA game.

Our sense of forgiveness has everything to do with 4 blocks and 8 rebounds per game, a legitimate inside presence and whose inclusion on our roster gives us the best chance to win next year. We'd flush him in a second if he didn't have value as a basketball player.

Hopefully along with our selfish mercy, Mullin can teach him a little about being a responsible adult and some life skills along with improving his FT %.

The best thing I am willing to say about this is that there are millions of people around the country responding positively to news of Chris Mullin taking the reigns. I hope one of them who will respond positively is CO, and I think it's a fair bet he will.

Persuasive as usual Beast!
The song (by???) mercy, mercy, mercy...

I may be dreaming a bit, but is:

Rysheed, B Sampson, D Lee, Diallo, Obekpa

better than the starting lineup we had this season?
I'm not sure the starting 5 would be better but we would be deeper next year which could make our team overall better

Deeper ... and higher.

It will be a long time before we see another sir Dominic pointer sho did so much on both ends of the court. He was really outstanding this year and I don't see anyone who could replace him

From what I have seen from yakwe a few games he has that similar high motor do everything type of game. Was very impressed with him the game osna played roselle catholic a few months ago. I'm hoping we get him if we can land diallo.
This (yakwe) means...thanks

Smart move by Obekpa to return for net season.

Look for substantial improvement in the quality of play of Christian Jones.
