Obekpa and weed

Whether he comes back or not he could turn out to be one of the most influential SJU players of recent years. His stupidity might have caused the tournament loss which made it easier to let Lavin go.
It's strictly guesswork but it appears SJU was aware of Mullin's interest in the coaching job prior to letting Lavin walk and it would have been tougher to let him go had SJU beat SDST.
With the impact Chris's hiring has had on the SJU community we might want to hang OB's number off the rafters on next season's opening night whether he is here or not.

His impact is only felt in certain situations. Yes, against SDSU it would have been a different game, but on the flipside, we have had many great games without him, and many others where he played and was a non-factor, or even hindered our effort. He blocks shots and intimidates, that's it. Rose colored glasses saw a few 10-12 footers go in this year thinking he developed an offensive game, but having a big man that can't post up, or pass from the post, or set a solid screen is not an asset on the court. His off court antics speak for itself. All of this said, I'm fine with him coming back, because CM and staff will have zero tolerance for anything less than pro behavior on and off the court.

DO YOU REALLY WANT HIM NOW, AFTER THE RECENT COMMITMENTS. OBEKPA"S SUSPENSION, REFUSING TO PLAY AND INTENTIONALLY ALMOST HURTING A PLAYER ?
CHRIS SAID ,IN SO MANY WORDS , YOU MUST EARN THE WAY TO WEAR THE UNIFORM.
HE SHOULD BE BEGGING OUR COACHES TO BE ON OUR TEAM .HE IS ACTING JUST THE OPPOSITE.
WAKE UP OPEKPA AND WEED, NOT A KID ANYMORE.
WE COULD USE THE SCHOLARSHIP ON SOMEONE WHO REALLY WANTS IT

STOP YELLING

one thing the commitments did for us , is give us options. I would like to see CO return. If he does and messes up, we will not be that dependent on him, like we were last year

I hear ya...and I don't think his presence on the team next year has nearly the impact that other folks think. But I'm not discounting the possibility that CM and staff could have serious impact on CO's behavioral issues. It's not even entirely about basketball. He needs life attitude adjustments. Lavin seemed to be just what D'Lo needed in his situation, but clearly Lavin didn't have the mojo for CO. Obekpa embarrassed the school (more than once), but he's still a student, learning, and I'm pulling for something positive to break through for him.

He got in foul trouble against Duke and one would think that he would be motivated in the NCAA's to get a shot at Duke again (Several sources had us in the same region as Duke toward the end of the season). The only positive about him is his drug test. He's no pro, his playing time is now limited, if he transfers he sits another year.

There was a time earlier this season when his defensive play was very solid and he was appearing on some of the mock drafts (for 2016 I believe.) Then he went off the rails- was it because of his persistent ankle injury or is he just a nut job? Who knows. But the potential talent is there in spades. I say bring him back with a zero tolerance policy, which I'm sure Mullin will have in place anyhow.

Frank, please take your caps off. They are difficult to read, and are rude.

Don't know how reliable a poster he is. But, Hnk on JJ says CO returning is a done deal.
