What about Ben Howland? He would be a solid hire and did a great job in this conference when he was at Pitt.Grasso going from the NEC/AE to competing against Miller, Shaka, Cooley, McDermott, Hurley etc is a massive massive jump

We need candidates who haven't been fired from their last job. What about Ben Howland? He would be a solid hire and did a great job in this conference when he was at Pitt.
Nice work Troy
Shaka Smart at Marquette and Miller at Xavier we’re both fired from their last jobs and we’re great hires. We need candidates who haven't been fired from their last job.
I don't think he'd be a complete disaster but I also don't think he'd elevate the program above this purgatory we're currently in. Made 1 NCAA Tournament in 7 years in the SEC, worse than CMA's record before coming here. The 3 straight final 4s in the mid 2000s at UCLA was very impressive but that was also 15 years ago now and in his 12 coaching seasons since he has 4 tournament appearances and 2 wins. What about Ben Howland? He would be a solid hire and did a great job in this conference when he was at Pitt.
Smart was not fired. He left Texas.Shaka Smart at Marquette and Miller at Xavier we’re both fired from their last jobs and we’re great hires.
Shaka was *fired from a school with unreasonably high expectations and Miller was fired for being a cheater. Not same situation as Howland, who didn't move the needle for two seasons there. It would be same as CMA. We need better. No lateral changes.Shaka Smart at Marquette and Miller at Xavier we’re both fired from their last jobs and we’re great hires.
If the stopgap is successful and could get to the tourney 2 of 3 years or 3 of 5 and maybe a win or 2 - you wouldn't sign up for that?Pitino to old. He's not long term, only a stopgap.
If we went the young up and comer route and he succeeded here he’d leave for greener pastures in a shorter amount of time than Pitino would be here before he retiredPitino to old. He's not long term, only a stopgap.
Can't mention Pat Kennedy without mentioning Tom Penders. How has Pat Kennedy not been mentioned yet
Meant Drake in his first and only year. He went to the NIT in his first year at Providence. That makes it sound like he was coach of the year in his first year at Providence.
We can invite Grasso to the same meal and watch them fight. Our luck, Tom Pecora would make it to a steak dinner & campus visit w/ Shanley
