Not to give you all any false hope but I jokingly asked Pitino when he was coming to St. John's in November at the Hofstra game and he laughed.
But please do not forget Rick is 70 years old and not the younger Rick we remember at Kentucky and Louisville.
No amount of hair dye will mask that reality.
But he still is one of the few names that could attract mostly 4 star players to a school like St. John's.
Ironically Pitino Jr. has what was a moribund New Mexico program undefeated. He may be a younger and better Pitino option.

Louisville won’t get rid of Payne after one season. Georgia Tech is almost certain to open and NC State is a possibility. Not sure if either would be more preferable to Rick than SJU but who knows what the $ situation would be with those schools. Other than that I don’t see any ACC, BE, B10 or B12 jobs opening unless there’s an unexpected retirement or going to the NBA or something like that

Does Rick hold a grudge against Louisville for how he was let go? I couldn't see any way they'd ask him to come back anyway

Let's not forget, Richard Pitino (Jr) had a pretty lousy run in Minnesota. His conference record was 54-96.

Old, young, Dead Rick Pitino would be better than anything we have had
Prop him up like weekend at Bernie’s would be better than rvishhjk, rivishk, Joel, Joel, weave

This was Rick at the Hofstra game. Would he come to St. John's? What, leave New Rochelle and Iona for the Big East?

All in on Pitino can get 10 years with him easily, however if for whatever reason we don't get him, I'd make a call to Billy Donovan if he becomes available. 2/3 years with a losing record and missing the playoffs if things hold the way they are now maybe bulls make a change.

Now that Rick has served his 3 years of penance at Iona, I believe it is a safe bet that he will not be at Iona next season, but he will likely have options at Georgetow, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh and other places.

From time to time I read the Georgetown fan site and Rick is the fans choice to replace Ewing.

Im reading a lot of these big names being thrown out to replace CMA. Did we all forget the last coaching search? St John's is no longer a destination, and certainly not desirable among the big names. We might luck into Pitino simply because he has wanted to be here for a long time.

Totally agree! We better have someone (hopefully Petino) locked up before we jettison CMA. Other than Tim Cluess, no other coach wanted this job.

We could luck into Pitino because of his troubles at Louisville. SJU will never have a chance to get a coach of his caliber again.

I haven’t seen his name mentioned here but Ben Howland is out there also.

Mark Jackson - HC
Jeff Van Gundy - associate HC
Mike Breen - video coordinator
