Better not be too early for Cragg to start working behind the scenesall of this is too early speculation, have to see where the team ends up once season is over. Logically one can assume it won't look good.

Louisville won’t get rid of Payne after one season. Georgia Tech is almost certain to open and NC State is a possibility. Not sure if either would be more preferable to Rick than SJU but who knows what the $ situation would be with those schools. Other than that I don’t see any ACC, BE, B10 or B12 jobs opening unless there’s an unexpected retirement or going to the NBA or something like that
Not to give you all any false hope but I jokingly asked Pitino when he was coming to St. John's in November at the Hofstra game and he laughed.
But please do not forget Rick is 70 years old and not the younger Rick we remember at Kentucky and Louisville.
No amount of hair dye will mask that reality.
But he still is one of the few names that could attract mostly 4 star players to a school like St. John's.
Ironically Pitino Jr. has what was a moribund New Mexico program undefeated. He may be a younger and better Pitino option.

Hell yeah he might cost us a National Championship in the Final 4!Anybody else concerned that Rick didn't put anyone on the inbounds play to Laettner?
This was Rick at the Hofstra game. Would he come to St. John's? What, leave New Rochelle and Iona for the Big East?
Totally agree! We better have someone (hopefully Petino) locked up before we jettison CMA. Other than Tim Cluess, no other coach wanted this job.Im reading a lot of these big names being thrown out to replace CMA. Did we all forget the last coaching search? St John's is no longer a destination, and certainly not desirable among the big names. We might luck into Pitino simply because he has wanted to be here for a long time.
If that happens, it would not be luck. It would be more poor planning! With our luck we give CMA another year, Pitino goes to Georgetown, then we fire CMA the following year.
How about Steve LavinHow about Steve Nash?
I know most on this site would not go for it, but in this NIL and immediate transfer world , if Lavin came back here I think he would do well. He’s better than CMA , he got us to two NCAA tournaments. How about Steve Lavin
