New York Mets 2025 Season

What’s interesting about Sproat is the fluctuation in K’s. Not that K’s are a be all end all. That’s not what I am saying.

However, it does speak to swing and miss and deception. That certainly is ticking up with 9 K”s. When he was struggling his game logs show 0 or 1Ks and that was alarming.

I started to think injury because he fell off the ledge. He seems to have it back. His ERA overall is now 4 when for a period it was 6. Seems he is back on track.

When you have the kind of arm talent that Sproat has, you expect swings and misses. That hasn't been there for him. Tong and McLean look like they are throwing wiffle balls in comparison...the movement is that crazy.

I haven't seen him in this stretch, but around May/June, I did think the fastball was something that needed to be completely torn down and built from scratch during the offseason. Sometimes a new grip and a few games with it can change a season...I'm hoping that's the case here. He's double his curveball usage and he's gained a few MPH on his fastball in July.

The Mets will certainly add Sproat and McLean for the September call-ups -- maybe sooner to spell Holmes. Maybe stack those two in the same game a handful of times.

Thanks god my season tix didn't go up much so now I can still go to the world series. Ryder cup I'm going to still have to do some double talk

Not sure that was a spot to pinch hit Baty for Vientos. Mendoza loves his platoons too much
This right here. He’s got too much Yankee analysis in his blood. Vientos has been good, Baty has not. Game got lost right here.

Not to mention, Nimmo should be bunting in the 10th but who the hell does that anymore?

I am sure, horrible move IMO. But no manager looks good when you have a lineup that is just devoid of clutch hitters. Let’s face it the Mets have played .500 baseball for 2 months now. 14 games over .500 on May 31 and August 1, maybe that’s just what they are. Still right there standing wise but seemingly just treading water.

Agreed. I haven’t felt genuine belief in this lineup for close to two months. They just don’t feel threatening in the way they should.

That’s why I hated taking Vientos out late in this one. You gotta try to get him going, give him some clutch ABs, he’s shown he’s capable in the past, give him the shot. This lineup needs his pop
