I will absolutely admit what I said was emotionally driven and irrational because everything you said is correct. One of my consistent mantras coaching, whether HS basketball or now 7U traveling baseball (my grandson) was repeating over and over to players that the ONLY thing they control is their effort.
So a question for you, what does “unacceptable” mean to you exactly? No one can knock Lindor’s effort EVER! You state Lindor is a “notoriously streaky hitter(s)”, yet state you “wouldn’t blame anyone for booing him.” For being EXACTLY the player you described a couple of sentences before, the player he has been his whole career?
Lindor comes across as someone who exudes class, a man’s man who doesn’t shy away from the microphone when things are going bad, and who certainly doesn’t hide behind excuses. Win or lose, going good or bad, he remains a leader by example and he is up there in my list of most admired NY athletes.
But i am very disappointed and frustrated in how consistently inconsistent he has been year after year. There is just something that is wrong with the perception of him as a top 10-20 guy but also not be able to hit for two or three months at a time.
