New York Mets-2018

And yet another season over by June.
It's ugly, but it's a very long season. Injuries have taken their toll. It's not over yet.
Yes it is.

You could have been the bandleader of the Titanic deck band.

Every day when I think I hit rock bottom this season as a met fan each new day brings a new way to kick me in the nuts

Its not only ugly but it is/has been very predictable. They just spend money to fill holes. The real difference makers are never acquired/signed by the Mets. The current team is as exciting as watching paint dry. Gotta call 'em as you see 'em.

Nonexistent leadership at the top with no concept of solid investment often reaping dividends. Cut & paste approach! Can’t watch baseball.

I certainly still root but it is tough. I agree with LaDuca to the point that the Mets (Alderson and co.) basically put all their eggs in the young arms and outside of deGrom and to a lesser extent Syndegaard they have been busts. Every day players? Really no one on the team worth getting excited over. Rosario, has serious potential but he is still a baby with a lot of holes in that swing. Conforto? Potential has to turn into production eventually so also a disappointment. It appears someone or something convinced him to forego that beautiful swing to uppercut for homers, a la David Wright a few years into his career. . Cespedes? Ton of ability but in reality an inconsistent too often injured player. Bullpen, a disaster. No help on the farm. Adds up to same old Mets.
Spot on.
Mets typically cheap out. Their big investment was Cespedes. They could have guaranteed a killer 1-3 in the rotation by investing in Arrieta, which would have made them front runners. Instead they invested in a bust.
How about Moustakas instead of Frazier? Cain instead of Bruce? Insert Cain and he leads off. Mouse plays 3rd and bats 3rd or 4th. Line-up would have made more sense and defense of Cain would have pushed Conforto to more natural RF. Also Cain would help produce runs instead of waiting for HRs. Both are closer to .300 hitters than Bruce or Frazier.
The common thread? Bruce and Frazier were CHEAPER. Guess who Mets signed?

Just think as the weather warms the evenings: a plethora of cheap seats on stubhub, even on nights where deGrom or Thor pitch

I’ll look at weekend afternoon games and we will look at some options August or September

That I agree with: Mets have forever signed the cheaper and the wrong FAs most of the time. Wilpons worst owners in MLB. Selig booted the LAD owner (forget name) but protected and defended the Wilpons. Still fuming.

No. 3 day train and bus tour of southern ireland. Overnights in galway and one other place.

Trying to decide between day trip to normandy or loire region or somewhere else

Familia fails once again. And to think I was going to post that the Mets trade him for some young talent. God knows our farm system is in dire need of help. If this disaster continues Citifield will be a grave yard.

Trying to decide between day trip to normandy or loire region or somewhere else
You have nothing to decide. I have you covered. We did both. Normandy from a historical perspective was great. We really loved it. We ddi a one day tour from Paris

BUT we also did one day tour to Loire Valley small tour like 6 of us and it was absolutely awesome. Went to maybe 4 or 5 wineries but small ones where there basically weren't even tasting rooms we were the only ones there. Sancerre is awesome !!! Went to a winery where the owner literally had to stop and take a delivery off a truck himself thats how small the vineyard was and the wine was absolutely amazing

here is the tour company that took us from Paris

Familia had some help today. Rosario booted a ground ball. He is more suspect than prospect. They gave the guy a hit but that play should have been made. He also struck out on 3 pitches with the bases loaded right before the booted grounder. I hate to say it but I have little to no faith that Alderson would bring back anything of value for Familia or any other player. Last year he traded Bruce, Granderson, Reed, Duda, etc. and acquired 7 minor league RHP. None of whom are really helping the Mets this year and are suspects at best. Honestly all he did was save money and not get value in return.

Agree about Rosario and Alderson. Not impressed with his defense or free swinging. Houston would probably be interested in Familia, especially since they are badly in need of a closer.

Interesting that Nimmo met with batting coach, Roessler, on his off day. They discovered he was swinging underneath the ball. Well a few days earlier Keith Hernandez claimed that Nimmo was dropping his back shoulder and swinging underneath the ball. Is it me or do you think both Hernandez and DArling could take over as hitting and pitching coaches.?

That would cost the Mets too much money.

 Just got home from Chase Field watching the Mets lose tonight against the D'backs. Can't blame Callaway for the poor offense but can blame him for his continuous bone head pitching decisions. Robles looked good through one and two thirds innings until he gives up a walk with two out. Out comes brainless Callaway to bring in Blevins who can't get lefthanders out. Sure enough he gives up a hit followed by a hit batsmen. Out he goes and in comes Seawald who proceeds to walk in a run. No reason to remove Robles. Why bring Rhames in the eight in a close game to widen the D'back lead when you have Swarzak or Gsellmen.. Callaway is overmatched as manager.
