We hate to see you go, we hate to see you go, not really. Maybe Detroit ( one of the worst cities I ever visited) will want you. Lots of hot spots there, not really.

Blew out tire on pothole on way to met game tonight. had to get tow truck and tow back to huntington. Even though we just got 2 back I knew this was a bad sign today

Wow, how bad is our pitching. In his after game interview Wheeler indicated he always had trouble in the first inning and has to start figuring it out. Duh! This isn't your first year pitching. BTW, not just the first inning - 6 inning stats 8 runs, 10 hits. Isn't it about time our pitchers have the opposition fish for a pitch with an 0 - 2 count? Same happened to Vargas.
Callaway should have pinched hit for Conforto against the lefty in the eight and I would have given Gonzalez a chance to win the game. Just had to look at Conforto's face as he came to bat in the ninth. Anyone out there thought he was going to make contact. And it's about time someone stop him from upper cutting. As Hernandez has mentioned multi times he always had a level swing.
If Matz pitches well tomorrow it will be a major surprise to me. Can only hope.

I guess the dark knight will not rise again. He was DFA'd this morning. We could have had quite a haul for him at one point. Now he is worthless.

Opps, looks like the time difference made me quite behind on this news :>

The almost comeback made the loss feel even worse like a big kick in the balls

Multiple thoughts. Although many had soured on Harvey and it was hard not to, the whole story is sad. This wasn't Tim Leary, Paul Wilson, Bill Pulsipher; Harvey had been a great pitcher and while he appears to be an ass, injuries were what ruined him and that is sad. Secondly Callaway got this job because of the hope he could fix the pitchers and that has not happend. Without a vast improvement in the starters soon, players like Cabrera, FRazier and Bruce don't make sense for the future as the young Braves and Phillies look scary.

Just my opinion; Matt Harvey was never a great pitcher. He had great stuff and about as unprofessional an attitude as there could be. He was a legend in his own mind before he did anything substantial. He has one season of double figure wins. He has one complete game in his career. Yes he had injuries, no question, but IMO he was never going to be a great pitcher because of his immaturity and Montana sized ego which is why I thought the Mets should have traded him before the injuries. Good riddance

MJM you lucky bastard you missed the 5 spot Wheeler gave up! I would thank the damn pothole.
By the way, you seem to be having a tough travel year. I believe you missed the G'town Big East Tourney game courtesy of our incompetent friends at the LIRR. Stuck in the train parking lot if I recall correctly. LOL. Sorry to hear of your misfortune but I contend you dodged a bullet.

Yeah the Big East Tourney Game against Gtown we got a big snowstorm and when I got to the train station they cancelled all the trains

A year or 2 ago I was driving into the city for SJU vs someone I forget who on a weekend afternoon game and I blew tire on the LIE and missed a game also

The funny thing is I have run flats on my car but doesn't help when you whack a pot hole at high speed. Also a few years ago when I first blew a run flat driving home from St Johns at Nova I got almost all the way home after dodging probably 1000 potholes on the way down to Philly and Back and I blew a tire 2 miles from my house. I go to my trunk looking for a spare and I actually had no idea my car didnt have a spare tire. lol

I have to confess the reason I remembered that story was that I can completely commiserate with the frustration of dealing with the LIRR. Earlier that day you had written your post about taking the train. Another poster here warned you to leave early. I was home because I had broken my ankle. So when I saw your post it all felt so damn predictable and relatable given my own experiences with the train. I had this image of you fiddling with the car radio at the station parking lot wondering what the hell was going on and cursing the gods. I followed your adventure like a Where's Waldo episode.

Just amazing the way the Mets have done a complete 180 back to a team that just finds ways to lose.

It’s a very long season and a very streaky game. Catching depth imploded, the pitching ruptured, and the offense sputtered.
Hopefully, a fresh wind will bring in some reinforcements and the Mets will launch a new and extended winning streak.
Look at the Yankees.
Let’s go Mets!

In fact, I'm still rooting for a 'subway' World Series this year. You never know.

True, but does not alter the fact that the Mets looked like a contender for 2 weeks and the worst team in baseball for the next two.

No argument there, but maybe--aided by injuries--that typifies why it's a 'streaky game'?
