(NCAA-WEST/Providence) #15 Omaha, Thu., Mar. 20, 9:45p, CBS

That's what I thought about a quarter century ago when we played Detroit. Zendon Hamilton, Felipe Lopez, Ron Artest, Lavar Postel and Ty Grand looked like final four talent. I'd say the talent was better, overall, than this team. Tarik Turner was held scoreless...and we lost by two. I'm expecting a 20 point win because of who's coaching us...but you never know.
Difference was we were a 7 and Detroit was a 10.

First NCAA game from most of our guys and probably most or all of their players as well. Expect some early game jitters. That seems to be our M.O. anyway. Then we get in a groove. CRP has been preparing the guys for this moment all season. I would highly doubt Omaha has seen our style of play. Still, with the long conference season, it will be interesting to see how others match up with SJU.
Jitters? Nah, it's just another game of basketball, nothing different at all. Same exact game as the first ooc game of the season.
Only difference is the big moment.

If they get that out of their head then it's the same exact game as they always played.

If they can't score for the first 3-4 minutes the announcers might say jitters and I'll just laugh saying them starting the game down big early is just a regular game for them.

Lets roll baby!!!!!!!!!!

That's Thursday.

I was taking a guess for Saturday.
Yes, me too. I have been scouring media to see when Saturday game will be--afternoon or evening so I can make travel plans out of Providence. I will post here when I find something.

Agree . Omaha surely hasn’t experienced our level of Defensive intensity .
Not that it matters .

All the teams in our League knew exactly what was coming at them from our D and , yet still couldn’t deal with it .
And, those were pretty good teams . Creighton , McQ, UCONN, Xavier . Etc

I’m thinking , neither Kansas or Arkansas have played against that kind of D either .

Zuby will be more than Hunter Dickenson can handle if we play them.

Boogie ? Has he played at all , since his injury ?

Not worried about them either .
Fland is back but has not played yet I believe.

Omaha as in University of Nebraska AT Omaha. 16,000 enrollment, big school for the middle of nowhere.

Never heard of them until Sunday night. The Mavericks are a good band on the other hand, love Raoul Malo.

Three things come to mind with Omaha:

1. Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway

2. The McDermotts and Creighton

3. Peyton Manning calling audibles at the line of scrimmage

Score

Platte River 60

Hudson River 80
College World Series.

Some of the comments on the Kansas fan site are funny .

They seem to be focused on the Coaching Matchup between Self and Calipari .

Several think St John’s wouldn’t be too difficult for either team to beat .

I think , either they never saw us play or , don’t know that Rick Pitino is our Coach .

And , Rick doesn’t get outcoached by anyone .

Even if our team were a toss up and they are not , having Pitino on the sidelines is like having 3 other players on the Court . Playing 8 on 5 .

Neither McDermott or , Shaka had any sideline answers for us in the Tournament , despite this being the 3 rd time the teams had played each other. They all knew what was coming too .

Doubt that Omaha will be any different . They haven’t played a team like ours all season .

And , as we have seen , it doesn’t matter if have , try and stop us from doing what we do .

Few , if any can .

Been working portal(yes already)with kids so haven't seen SJ recently all except on tv and Ill be out again for weeks so just throwing a few thoughts out there
1) Have seen Omaha play in person twice....great coach and hes also a great guy. They run a lot of sets and ball screens and a lot of high action...SJ switching ability will cause them a lot of issues as they won't be able to iso mismatches. Play hard but really outmatched.
2) Kansas....lots of issues here within this team. A lot of talent and equal amounts of internal disfunction. Parts are better than the sum of the whole ...my concern wouldn't be Hunter who will get his but if Zeke, AJ, Harris ect are hitting. If not they can't compete with SJ...if they are super tight. They are also fake tough....a few ppl ive spoken with were surprised how soft they were.
Congrats to an amazing fan base...enjoy the ride and I'll be back in the off season! Go SJ..esp Dev :)

what has me pissed off over our start time is that we play late game. In BE tournament and other conference tournaments the highest seeded team always got the first game (and thus extra time between games). Both Us and Michigan State have been put in the late game while guess what happened to the other two #2 seeds from the SEC both play in the first game at their locations. As Pat McAfee started off his interview with SEC commissioner in their interview, how much did you pay to get 14 teams in for the SEC?

Hell-SJU is in the eastern time zone for TV while Kansas and Arkansas are in central time zone

Omaha (auto correct changed it Osama LOL) has played one team around our caliber this year, Iowa st, and they lost 83-51
Great point! I looked at Omaha's schedule and against decent Div. 1 teams they, beat Stetson by 3, lost to Minnesota by 4, lost to UNLV by 11, got blown out by Iowa St as Jack posted, and Beat Oral Roberts twice. The rest of the games apparently were played against Summit League teams. In their conference championship final they beat St. Thomas by 10. I don't think this is a team we should be too concerned with.
