Kelvin Sampson is one of the best in the business, what he has done with a dead in the water Houston program is outstanding. Much respect for him and his teams.Paultzman post=465189 said:Like him or hate him, Kelvin Sampson can recruit and coach. Houston closing out a win over Illini.
“Kelvin Sampson just keeps Houston Cougars rolling - he's one of best in nation.
They lost 4 of 7 guys in rotation from last year's Final 4 team. Then he lost 2 of 3 guys that came back to injury - Sasser & Mack. And Sasser is a star. Sampson brought in 3 key guys from portal”

I don't think I have seen a team play harder than Houston did today. They conceded nothing to Cockburn, despite his size and weight advantage. Their defense was smart and ferocious.
Would you have been ok with SJU hiring Sampson when he returned to college ball, even with all his baggage?panther2 post=465194 said:Kelvin Sampson is one of the best in the business, what he has done with a dead in the water Houston program is outstanding. Both received show cause punishments, but I would take either here immediately (and that also includes Pitino).
This is why I do not take fans seriously who claim they will no longer be fans if a certain coach is hired.
In the end winning will heal those wounds.
I know the kid was highly ranked and highly recruited, but I see a lot of flaws in his game. Some can be fixed, some cannot. He may be better served moving down to a lower level.Amaseinyourface post=465210 said:Curbello will probably head somewhere else and benefit from a fresh start. Poor season for sure but the talent is there and wouldn’t like to see him end up at the Hall or similar.

I wasn't suggesting that you were suggesting us. I meant a lower level then Illinois.Amaseinyourface post=465215 said:Monte post=465213 said:I know the kid was highly ranked and highly recruited, but I see a lot of flaws in his game. Not suggesting us, but needs less of a rigid osystem I think. Certainly has flaws.
Curbelo had a serious concussion which kept him out for quite a few games. There was also another injury that might still be lingering. That being said nonetheless, his return to the court has definitely not been good and showed regression in all phases of his game when compared to last year.NCJohnnie post=465193 said:Delaware wrote:

Curbelo has been pretty close to a disaster this year. Shooting 34% from the field, 19% from three and had close to as many turnovers as assists. He may have been a higher rated recruit than Posh, but we got the better player for sure.
