Side note.....I like Jim Spanarkle doing color on these games.
I like Spanarkel doing color on any game. He's one of the best around

Zach B a bit excited;

This is the best local college basketball story since St Johns reached the Elite Eight in 1999. St Peter’s, with one three-star recruit and a bunch of unranked guys. Shaheen Holloway is a superstar.

I normally do not root for a Penny Hardaway team to win, but when I do, it is against Gonzaga.

Was just thinking.....if Holloway leaves St. Peter's, there have to be a few decent players there that Anderson can make good use of? You don't get as far as they have with coaching alone.

They do have a few players with remaining eligibility that will be attractive in the portal.  However, I think a big piece of this is culture and coaching.  These are players that are largely overachieving.

That said, if available, we could consider:

Doug Edert (2 year remaining, immediately eligible)

KC Ndefo (1 year remaining, immediately eligible)

Clarence Rupert (3 years remaining, immediately eligible)

*Edert would be first choice.  This would be a very good pick-up for us.

All are alums, present students or associated with the St. Peter’s (I’m not buying the Jersey Governor having picked them unless he falls under one at least one of the above).

Check out their stats against us in December.  Not so sure we would benefit by these additions.

I agree their play is more likely a result of coaching an culture.  The exception might be Edert.  He is the type of player we need and seemingly, as an upperclassman, beginning to realize his potential.  There was a lot of local buzz about him when he was in high school, but he never really got any high major interest.

On the contrary , I think Evert ,  Ndefo who is from Elmont and Rurpert would be good additions to any team . But , if Shaheen goes to SH , why would they come here to play under CMA ?     Answer , None .     I was to trying to research Holloway as a Player , back in the Day .   He’s from Queens and as he pointed out in his post game interview “ he’s a New Yorker ,” and not from NJ .  He played for St Patrick’s HS in NJ and was a McD All American in 1995-1996 . How did we miss on recruiting him ?  He became a big time player at SH and received more than a few Awards and honors .

Like him or hate him, Kelvin Sampson can recruit and coach. Houston closing out a win over Illini.

“Kelvin Sampson just keeps Houston Cougars rolling - he's one of best in nation.
They lost 4 of 7 guys in rotation from last year's Final 4 team. Then he lost 2 of 3 guys that came back to injury - Sasser & Mack. And Sasser is a star. Sampson brought in 3 key guys from portal”

Without their best player Sasser, and another starter. No excuses.
