NCAA Tournament 2022

Nova advancing, amazing how fundamentally sound they are. They force tough shots defending and move ball so well finding good ones. They obviously defend at a consistently high level and seem to deflect a lot of passes every game. Wright deserves the kudos.

Cooley & Wright punch their tickets to second weekend. Finished 1-2 in league play so kind of fitting.

Looking forward to Duke - MSU. Spent two great years at MSU and root for them to win, not that it would be hard to root against Duke anyway.

Who would have thought the coach we used to have drinks with at Montereys across the street from Hofstra would turn into Jay The Freaking Man Wright. He definitely was going to be good back then but wow what he has built now never would have guessed

Jeff Goodman:

”In a six-year stretch from 2010-15, Jay Wright and Villanova never got out of the first weekend.

The last six years: 2 national titles and now two Sweet 16 appearances.”

There is a lot of talk about Curbelo and Posh. Obviously right now no comparison. The guy that has impressed me is RJ Davis from Stepinac. North Carolina is lucky to have him.

I'll eat crow as I thought the Big East would be done by the end of the weekend or only one--at best--would advance to the Sweet 16.

IMO, Providence and Villanova both received favorable draws in the 2nd round.  Regardless, kudos to both programs for reppin' the conference.

Lastly, the Big 10 is hot freakin' garbage!  It's the most overrated hoops conference in the country.  And, it's not even close.

I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m sick and tired of watching Nova in the tournament year in and year out while the St John’s faithful cling to the “wait till next year” mantra. It’s been how many years….22?, since  we last won a tournament game. And after more then a generation of futility regarding post season play, we are supposed to remain patient?

In my opinion, Jay Wright is the best coach in college basketball.  As mentioned by others, the combination of fundamentals, discipline and toughness is unmatched.

Hats off.

I woukd even go as far as to say if Creighton had the frosh PG Nembhard and Kalkbrenner they may still be playing as well.

Let the “Coach K love fest” begin.

Yes, the slobbering is embarrassing.

Go Michigan St. Love Izzo. Best tournament coach in the business.

Please God let me see Duke fans crying in the stands after the game today ! I'll gladly accept the stock market going down for a few weeks in exchange

i asked him twice yesterday to stop but he obviously cannot help himself. The thread is about the NCAA tourney and Villanova’s win to get to the round of 16 , and that is what all posters are pleasantly discussing but he diverts the topic to St. John’s 22 year winless streak in the tourney. SMH.

Beating a dead horse, nah never mentioned the last 22 years re. Nova etc.  but you and the other misinformed who thanked you have a clear agenda. I’m  just tired of watching the success of others. It has nothing to do with the current staff but 22 years worth of frustrations. if you were all honest with yourselves you would all admit you feel the same as I do. But what I’ve learned on this site is if you dare to have your own opinions that differ from the mainstream you’ll get these kind of reactions. Thanks

You asked that I get off the “negative” Anderson kick but this has nothing to do with that. You just want to look like one of the good guys which is pretty silly. And this thread is about the NCAA and Nova playing was part of that and I made reference to that. And there’s nothing wrong with the comment I made.

Trust me Jernaine and I’m not telling you what to do and I’m not arguing with you whatsoever life too short for that stuff. Long time ago during Norm Roberts era there were certain posters who wrote the same thing over and over and then when they wrote something not directly at Norm people perceived it as the same stuff. Heck Norm ended up sucking and I’ll readily admit those first 4 years I defended him. But reality is it’s all in the delivery. There were anti norm people from the beginning who just their delivery is different and then there are other fans they are real fans too just as passionate but their delivery is different. Don’t fall into that trap now . It’s not about if you are pro CMA or anti CMA it’s about the delivery. I have no dog in this fight and I’m not a moderator so do what you want but when any of us get to the point where people notice a certain tone in our writing or just change of personality people notice and it’s not in s bad way it’s a relatively tight knit group where misery loves company but not to the point  we want to talk about our ailments or project them on every post

Curbello will probably head somewhere else and benefit from a fresh start. Poor season for sure but the talent is there and wouldn’t like to see him end up at the Hall or similar.
I know the kid was highly ranked and highly recruited, but I see a lot of flaws in his game. Some can be fixed, some cannot. He may be better served moving down to a lower level.

Not suggesting us, but needs less of a rigid osystem I think. Certainly has flaws.
I wasn't suggesting that you were suggesting us. I meant a lower level then Illinois.

No I understood. Just sharing thought that I think he’d be better off in up tempo system.
