If Baylor wins, this will be an all time epic collapse by UNC.

Epic - yes. But Lost Manek with 10+ left and he was BaLLIN. Lost Love with 6+ left. Baylor has had help lol
Still an epic collapse.  UNC missing FTs and having a lot of trouble inbounding.
And Manek committing that foul was the beginning of that collapse.

From up 61-38 to 80-80 - got outscored 42-19.  Momentum favoring Baylor headed to OT, I think.

Gonna cry myself to sleep if UNC chokes away a less against a vulnerable Baylor team.

Just an awful last possession by UNC!! And we complain about CMA lol.
I thought the same thing! LOL! Maybe Hubert Davis isn't the guy? ;-)

... and after Mayer's 11th personal foul, he is now disqualified for Baylor.

Funny how an agenda works.  A few weeks ago you argued that North Carolina should fire Hubert Davis after losing badly to Wake Forest.  Then Wake fails to make the NCAA's and UNC does.

Then UNC beats a BE team (Marquette) by about a million points and leads a number 1 seed and defending National Champion (Baylor) by double digits at halftime but evidently they have been a product of a lucky draw.

the ACC has gotten kind of lucky.  But winning is better than losing, no question

We should probably give UNC double credit for beating Coaching God Shaka Smart, no? But as for the Baylor game, it takes two halves to win. And sometimes OT.

In all seriousness after a completely underwhelming season UNC did finally put it together at the end of the season and played some of their best ball.

The challenge for Hubert is going to be to keep the good 10% of the season going next year and not repeat the crummy 90% of the season. He was less than impressive this year, in an awful year for the ACC. He will need to step it up or he won't be the HC at UNC very long.

As I said a few weeks ago, I just did not see BE teams doing much damage in Dance. Looks like PC has good chance to advance one more round,. I could see Nova having a tough challenge with Ohio State’s size and defense & their own lack of depth, but certainly can win. Kansas will be too much for gritty, well coached Creighton. I love the competitive Big East, but also feel as Mase and a few noted, the League loses a lot of players next year as well. We’ll see how rosters pan out with transfers, but could be another challenging 22-23 season re Dance chances to make noise. On that I am way ahead of myself and we’ll see.
I have a question for you, and please let’s keep this civil. All year long I read from multiple posters that one of the reasons for St. John’s disappointing season was the strength of the Big East conference. Now many posters (not saying you) who used this excuse all season long are now saying that they don’t expect the conference to do anything in the Dance? What?  Obviously if the conference was as tough as depicted by many, why can we not expect more success in the Dance?  And by the way, other then Nova, I’ve always believed that Creighton was the best coached team in tge conference.

Top to bottom the BE is a tough conference with 10 of 11 teams being competitive, in the BE. IMVHO in pretty much every other conference the bottom 1/2 to 1/3 of most conferences are pretty weak.  When you get to the dance, and most conferences only have their top 20-30% in there, you see that while they are not as competitive top to bottom the blue bloods in those conferences are top heavy elite programs.  Each year a couple conferences buck this trend, this year the B12 was pretty good top to bottom and to a lesser extent the SEC (I think that might be a long term trend - $$$$$), and of course the B1G is overrated every year and gets too many teams in the tourney.  It was again this year but it performs more like the BE when it gets there.

IMO this is due to the imbalance in recruiting more than coaching.  For example only 2 top 25 recruits for 2022 is committed to a team that is not in this year's tourney field, only 6 of the top 50, with no two of those 6 committed to the same team.  Teams will get tourney upsets but the top programs in the country are decided for the long term and only Nova and to a lesser extent UConn are BE players

For a variety of reasons, some of which are insurmountable, STJ is a long ways away from being one of those teams no matter who the coach is but being in the top half of the BE is a very achievable goal and would put them in the Dance more often than not.  If this coach can't do that in his first 5 years then move on.  But 3 years with no year being near as bad as the worst of any of the coaches since Looie?   If he doesn't win 20 next year I'll be much more critical but I'm not making predictions now.

PS Amazing comeback by Baylor here as I type, on to OT.

BTW-Duke has a second round game against Michigan St and Tom Izzo.

Sounds lucky to me, I mean who else would you want to face in the second round 2/7 matchup but one of the best coaches of his generation?

OK I take that back.  It's just LMF paying Fordham rent.

Man Carolina is probably going to hold on but their decision making late here in OT...LOL

And I think they jobbed with the Manek ejection but they got a favorable call on the out of bounds.

Always happy to see ACC teams go down. So, disappointed in result but great last 8 minutes + OT.

Ajinkodecision making is very suspect.

I give Carolina credit, no way did I think they would pull this out once it went to OT.

Baylor had injuries as well. They were down two players prior to the start of the tournament. Then Mayer went down late in regulation.

I'm no fan of UNC, so I was rooting for Baylor. Frankly, I'd rather St. Mary's play UNC rather than UCLA. I have more confidence in the
Gaels.

Akinjo's decision making has been suspect since he was at
Georgetown. Obviously, it hasn't changed much if at all.

Agreed, a lot of teams would have checked out after blowing a 25 point second half lead. Playing a no.1 seed, defending champs in their home state. Poor decisions and poor officiating contributed to the collapse. Survive and advance.

Even though they blew a 25 point lead they beat the defending champions. I don’t love UNC but I prefer them to Duke. They have a great starting 5 and RJ Davis is a fantastic college point guard. Stepinac has produced some great players the last few years including our own Joel Soriano.

Crazy but enjoyable watch today, never thought heels could bring it home once in OT

Hopeful that Providence and Villanova can make the sweet sixteen. Creighton has no chance vs Kansas, but the team has done a great job getting this far.
